"Lily, can you give me the address of Andrea's apartment?" I asked over the phone.
"I'll send it to your mobile," Lily answered. "Wait for about five minutes."
"Okay. Thanks, Lily," I said to her before hanging up.
I decided to give Andrea a chance to redeem herself. I knew that this was against all that I have done for the recent months with Rose. But for the sake of forgiveness, who am I to deprive Andrea?
For two consecutive days and nights, I thought thoroughly (with considerable pain and hurt) if giving a chance to a girl who wronged me will be worth it. I even looked into Google for guy forums about their girlfriends cheating on them. A lot of the views were hilarious. One post, albeit a serious one, caught my attention. The guy submitted a post on the forum with a subject "FIRST TIME OFFENDER" and these words:
Yes, your girlfriend cheated on you. But that is not the problem. It's just the effect of what has been going on in your relationship. Ask yourself? Did your girlfriend do it for the first time? If yes, then your girlfriend simply found something lacking in your relationship with another guy. She looked for another guy who would fill all the empty spaces. This is especially true if after being caught, she desperately asks for forgiveness and promises to make it better this time around. Girls do not cheat because they needed to. They cheat because they have a purpose. If she is first time offender, it must have been about her and you. Try to give her a chance. Trust may been cracked but love can mend it.
The post generated a heated debate. A lot of guys were against the post. One guy even replied that if she did it once, she can do it again ("cheating is cheating is cheating"). Maybe, these guys were really hurt of their girlfriends who cheated on them. A very few supported the idea, where a guy even said that it is really a test for both parties on making sure if they both love to each other.
Andrea just did it once, I thought then. It was not easy for me to accept the fact that she betrayed him. But it was just once, isn't it? Besides, she was repentant now that Karma hit her bad. She was desperate to meet me and ask for forgiveness.
As I received the address of Andrea from Lily, I changed quickly in order to meet her in her apartment. I took a cab to get there. As I arrived, I immediately went to her unit and clicked on the doorbell. Andrea opened the door while wiping her eyes. She just woke up. After wiping, she looked at me surprisingly.
"Surprised?" I asked her while smiling. Andrea smiled back as she put both of her hands on her waist.
"A bit," Andrea replied with a grin. "You are such a debonair, Mr. Dela Rosa. Come in."
I entered her apartment which was all neat and tidy. It was a simple apartment just like my penthouse unit. Contrary to what I thought about her, she was still that simple girl I knew before then. I seated on her couch while she proceeded to her kitchen.
"To what do I owe the pleasure of Mr. Dela Rosa?" Andrea asked as she prepared drinks in the kitchen.
"You owe me so many things," I answered. "I gave a thought about what you said in Central Park. And.."
Andrea quickly dashed in front of me. "And?" She asked.
I smiled at her. That was my only answer. I thought that she'll get what I meant because we used to do this gestures. Slowly, Andrea smiled back. That's when I knew she got my answer.
