Katherine POV: (have I done this one before? I don't know)

My phone rang the familiar ringtone and I looked over at the screen, the number was unknown. I normally wouldn't answer it but I pressed the green button, it could be Evangeline.

Katherine: Hello?

Evangeline: Hey Kat.

Katherine: What do you need?

Evangeline: I got in a fight with Elijah.

Katherine: About what?

Evangeline: You killing Jeremy, he was mad that I didn't tell him and lied to him about it. He was coddling Elena like some innocent little girl. She killed Kol!

Katherine: I know, where are you calling from?

Evangeline: A pay phone, I broke my cell phone. Remember?

Katherine: Right, so what exactly happened?

Evangeline: Well I snapped her neck and instead of being normal Elijah he started questioning me about it, things escalated, voices got higher, I told him I would find a way to get our freedom from Klaus without him, and he left me there in an alleyway.

Katherine: He just left you there?

Evangeline: Yep, he just walked out and said if I wanted to get our freedom from Klaus on my own he wouldn't stop me.

Katherine: Maybe he's just in a mood, it'll be fine.

Evangeline: I doubt it, he seemed royally pissed off, but he was defending Elena and Jeremy! The people who killed his youngest brother!

Katherine: He's Elijah, he's forgiven Klaus for worse, I'm sure he can forgive you.

Evangeline: He's also killed for a lot less, Klaus is his brother, I'm just Evangeline Salvatore.

Katherine: He wouldn't have bothered trying to help you if he didn't care for you, Angie.

Evangeline: You say that as if he'd do anything for me.

Katherine: Just talk to him.

Evangeline: When I see him again, I will.

Katherine: Good, anything else you want to discuss?

Evangeline: Can you meet me? I'm at a payphone in the middle of the night and I think there have been at least seven guys who have walked by and stared at me.

Katherine: So eat them, I'll be there as soon as I do something, but I'm not giving you the cure. Elijah may not stop you from going to Klaus, but I so will.

Evangeline: Whatever, just get here fast before I turn the next guys into dinner.

Katherine: I'm not going to complain about that, have fun. I'll be there soon.

I hung up the phone and gripped the small box in my hand even tighter, this was my freedom, Evangeline's freedom. Elijah was going to help us, he had to because there was no way I'd let Evangeline see Klaus. He'd either kill her for leaving or lure her back into his web, neither of those things would happen while I was alive to stop it.

When my eyes landed on the finely dressed Original vampire, I put more confidence in my walk and approached him. He began to walk faster and attempted to go around me, but I held my hand out to stop him. "We need to talk." I announced and he looked at me, annoyance clear in his eyes. "You upset Evangeline."

"You wish to discuss Evangeline with me?" He questioned and I nodded. "I'm not discussing anything with you."

I held the velvet box up and he eyed it. "This is the cure, give it to Klaus and bargain our freedom. You may have given up protecting her from him, but I haven't and I'm not letting her within a hundred miles of your brother. Now I could shove this down Klaus' throat and try to kill him, but Evangeline cares about you and if I did that it would ruin everything."

Elijah made no move for the box so I placed it in his hands. "How do I know you're not lying?" He questioned me.

"Evangeline is all I have, I'll do anything to protect her, I would never lie to you about her or anything that concerns her." It was the truth, Elijah could protect her in ways I may not be able to, I needed his help with this so I wouldn't lie about it. "I'm giving you the cure, do whatever you want with it. Evangeline and I will get by, but do me a favor and don't take my decisions out on her."

Evangeline POV:

I sped past over the Wickery Bridge with a determined look on my face, so maybe I'd lied to Katherine about what I was doing but it had to be done. She'd hunt me down if she knew where I was right now. She wouldn't give me the cure, I knew that, but I intended to try everything and anything I could to break through to the hybrid. That meant I had to find him, which wouldn't be heard considering he moved to Mystic Falls.

I had hot wired a car in Willoughby and called Katherine once I arrived in Virginia, by the time she figured out where I'd called from it would be too late for her to find me. It had taken me five hours to get to where I am, I was far ahead of her with at least five hours to accomplish my mission before she got here.

I couldn't help by wonder, though, what exactly Katherine had to do that would keep her from meeting me. No doubt she was yelling at Elijah about abandoning me in an alleyway, typical Katherine. "Home sweet home." I muttered to myself as I zoomed down the deserted streets of Mystic Falls, everybody was either in their beds or already sleeping. Good thing because I didn't have time to deal with police officers.

Soon the private road that led to Klaus' mansion came into sight, I turned down it. There was music playing quietly from the radio, I hadn't even changed the station form what it was on I was so busy in my own thoughts. Besides, the music wasn't too bad. It had a nice beat. "I'm getting so out of focus right now." I scolded myself as the large mansion came into view, no turning back now. Klaus probably already knew I was here.

I pulled up in front of the staircase and turned the ignition off, not bothering to take the keys out as I climbed from the vehicle. Who was going to steal the car? This mansion was even more middle-of-nowhere than the Boarding House. I reached the door in a matter of seconds and was planning to knock when it was pulled open by... Caroline. Great.

She jumped when she saw me and placed her hand on her chest, I'd frightened her. "Evangeline! What are you doing here?"

"What are you doing here? Last I checked it was you who hated Klaus."

"And it was you who left town."

"True, I'm here to talk to Klaus. Is he in?"

"Yep, I came by to help him out."

With what? What could Caroline possibly do to help Klaus? "That's nice, it was good to see you again Caroline." She could be alright when she wanted to be, didn't me I liked the fact she was friends with Elena and may have had a part in Kol's death. "Maybe we could have lunch sometime, my treat."

"Uh sure." Caroline responded, definitely confused by my offer as I walked past her and into the house.

The door closed behind me and I knew Caroline had taken her leave, which left me alone in the house with Klaus. He was somewhere in here and I hoped he wouldn't pop up with vampire speed and frighten me half to death, or try to kill me. Neither of those things were things I looked forward to.

I spun around quickly at the sound of someone behind me and stiffened at the new presence, now that I was actually looking at him I kind of wanted to start running and never stop until I was as far away as I could possibly be from where I was now. "Hello Klaus."

"Hello love."
