Evangeline POV:
"Marcel!" I screamed at the top of my lungs as I entered his compound, various vampires turned to look at me but immediately looked away when I glared at all of them. "If you don't come out right now I swear I will end the lives of every single person in this house, so come out and tell me what you have done with Elijah Mikaelson."
There was a low chuckle from above and I looked up to find Marcel sipping a glass of bourbon as he looked down at me. "We both know you don't kill vampires, Evangeline."
"Even I have no idea what I am capable of doing right now, so hand Elijah over to me and I'll bring him away." I negotiated as a few of the vampires around me got to their feet. "You won't have to worry about him and just deal with Klaus, but I am not leaving until you show me where Elijah is."
Marcel simply smiled at me, unfazed by my threats towards him and his vampires. It took me a moment to realize how utterly ridiculous it was for me to threaten an entire house of vampires all by my lonesome, despite being older than almost all of them, they certainly possessed the numbers. "Evangeline, I understand your concern for Elijah, but I'm not going to hand him over to you."
"You don't understand a thing about my concern, Marcel." I snapped as my anger began to boil and I recalled the promise Klaus had made to me. He wouldn't harm Elijah if I helped him find the witch. I'd helped him find the witch and what had he done to Elijah? Put him in a coffin. "He's saved my life more times than I can count, I owe him to at least protect him from the likes of you."
New Orleans, 1893
I walked alone along the streets, glancing around at the city which was illuminated by lights and consumed by the sounds of people laughing and having fun. It had to be past midnight by now as I made my way back to the compound from the post office where I'd received my first letter from Kathering since arriving here in the city. She had asked what it was like here, if I had located the Mikaelson family, if I was doing alright in the city.
Passing another alleyway I allowed my eyes to peer into its darkness, I'd always been afraid of something coming from one of those to attack me. "What's a pretty lady like you doing out alone this late in the night?" A voice called out from behind me and I froze, not bothering to turn to the source of the voice as I remained stiff. I listened as footsteps hit the ground, gradually coming closer to me, and I finally turned around to face the man.
He was an older looking man, probably around my own age, he just hadn't had the benefit of immortality to stop his aging. His hair was grey and his eyes were blue and with every step he took closer to me, I resisted the urge to take one away from him. I didn't want to have to hurt the man, I had yet to get used to my own strength so if I were to push him, I could seriously injure him. Soon he was close enough that I could feel his breath with every exhale. "I apologize, but I must be going home." I spoke up, trying to turn back to leave but my arm was snatched by the man.
I was yanked back to look at him again but when I turned around, the man was nowhere in sight. That is, until his severed head fell onto the road in front of my feet. Covering my mouth with my hand, I resisted the urge to scream in horror at the sight before me. I'd never seen someone decapitated before and the fact that I had no idea who did this only added to my fear.
A footstep sounded from behind me followed by the sound of a handkerchief being removed from a chest pocket. My breathing was irregular and I could feel my heart pounding away in my chest. I turned to face the source of the footsteps, telling myself that whatever it was had just saved me and thus had no reason to hurt me. What I didn't expected was the nicely dressed gentlemen I spotted wiping his bloody hand off with the handkerchief. He had brown hair styled up neatly and brown eyes that looked too warm for someone who had just decapitated a person.
