Evangeline POV:

Klaus had been avoiding me, it was apparent in the way he seemed to vacate any room I occupied. He didn't even try to hide it. Even as Papa Tundae resurrected himself from a century of the afterlife, he ignored me. Elijah and I had been distant as well, now he'd even gone to the great length of having Rebekah drag me along with her and Hayley to the plantation house. 'To keep you safe' he had said to me, but I knew he just didn't want me around.

Elijah's avoidance I could understand, given the events of the past few days. I could not, however, understand Klaus. Why was he avoiding me? I could only think of one reason, but he hadn't seen me with Elijah. He'd be far more violent if he had. I could deal with his violence, but I was struggling to deal with his silence.

Hayley had plans to throw a keggar party for her werewolf pack, I'd made the choice to take a walk instead. I wouldn't have been a very fun addition to the party anyways, unless it was a pity party in which case I'd be star of the show. How much worse can it get?

Klaus and Elijah both avoiding me, it's a phenomenon I had never experienced before. I had never been ignored by either of them, now I only existed to serve as Mikaelson repellant. That's when my phone rang, and looking at the caller ID I felt the tightness in my chest finally dispersing. Elijah.

Evangeline: To what do I owe this great pleasure.

Elijah: Where are you right now?

Evangeline: Taking a walk, about to arrive back at the plantation house. Why?

Elijah: I'm in the French Quarter, you need to get out of there Evangeline. Get out of there now.

Evangeline: What's going on, Elijah?

Elijah: The witches, the ones who stole off with the harvest, they're after you. I need you to come here so I know you're safe.

Evangeline: I have to get Hayley, Elijah. If they're coming the baby-

Elijah: Let me worry about Hayley, get yourself out of there. I'll be there soon.

As I walked up to the plantation house I could sense something was wrong, I heard banging on the windows and spotted Hayley inside the house with a stranger, just before I saw the fire.

Evangeline: Elijah, you need to hurry.

Elijah: What happened? Are you hurt!

Evangeline: The plantation is catching fire, Hayley is stuck inside. Hurry Elijah.

The line went dead and I slid my phone back into my pocket, running towards the burning house before I took a rock from the garden and threw it at the window, which shattered immediately.

Without thinking I went in, ignoring the flames as I grabbed Hayley and pulled her out to lay her on the driveway. She coughed, presumably from the smoke she'd inhaled, and pointed back to the burning house whose flames seemed ten times worse than they had just been. "Jackson, he's still inside."

Looking back at the building I contemplated whether or not I had time to go back in, Elijah would kill Jackson anyways if I died saving his life. I made my move to go back in when I was passed by a blur of vampire rushing past me and into the house.

"Elijah!" I yelled out, running over to the building to see him grab Jackson and drag him from the fires before placing him on the ground beside Hayley.

As soon as Jackson was placed down, Elijah whipped his attention to me. "Are you insane? Running into a burning building? You could have been killed."

"I was helping Hayley, I'm not letting a pregnant woman die." I replied. "That is your niece and Klaus' daughter, that baby is the best thing this family has had in a while. I can't let you guys lose that. Besides, I'm perfectly fine."
