Evangeline POV:
I had never been a fan of weddings, well at least not since achieving immortality, the idea of committing your life to someone seems blissfully romantic when your lifespan is a few measly decades but when your lifespan is eternal the idea loses it's appeal quite rapidly. Biases aside, however, I readily supported and went about aiding in the preparations for Hayley's upcoming nuptials.
Rebekah, who was residing in the body of a young witch, had gifted Hayley one of her many wedding dresses, which I thought was a sweet gesture since the only dresses Hayley owned were black, hardly the color a bride should wear to her wedding.
Despite many distractions, my mind kept wandering to the news Klaus had given me earlier about the home where Elijah was staying with Hope. It had exploded earlier today, while everyone was okay and on their way, my mind refused to stop worrying about them. "Ah, there you are," a voice interrupted my wandering thoughts, "I've been looking for you."
"What for?" I turned from what I was doing to face Klaus who was leaning against the wall. "I'm quite busy."
"Right, setting up chairs," Klaus gestured to the chairs I was currently lining up. "This is why I compelled so many people, so they can do things like this whilst you get ready for the wedding."
I rolled my eyes and continued placing the chairs. "Hayley is still wandering in her combat boots and she's the bride, I think I can finish setting the chairs before I have to get ready."
"Hayley won't have to spend five hours deciding what to wear." Klaus replied as he took the chair out of my hand and folded it back up before placing it back with the others. "I doubt you want the guests to see you in your pajamas."
I rolled my eyes, sighing before I agreed. "Fine, I'll go get ready, but an hour from now when I'm all ready and I have to walk around in my heels for another four hours I'm going to murder you." I gave him a pointed look before turning around to head towards the stairs.
"I'd like to see you try."
-
Three hours later I was deep into my closet, clothes all over the floor as I went through all my dresses trying to find one that would work. "This is ridiculous." I huffed, dropping yet another dress onto the floor. "That one's too short, this one is too poofy, and that one is white. I can't wear white to someone else's wedding!"
I pulled out another dress, this one floor length, and navy blue in color. After taking a look back up to my clothes and seeing that the only dress I had left was nearly see through I decided this one would have to do. I draped the dress over my arm and made my way towards the bathroom.
Before I could make it to the bathroom, however, there was a knock at my door. "Evangeline." I recognized the voice immediately and I could feel my heart sink. Elijah. "May I come in?"
"Yeah, it's open." I replied, placing my dress onto the bed as I waited for him to open the door.
The door opened slowly and Elijah came into view, wearing a crisp suit as always and the sight of him made my heart hurt. "I was told I could find you up here." He said as he closed the door behind him. "I thought we should talk, after what I said before you left."
"That's not necessary, Elijah." I couldn't bear to hear any more of his judgment telling me how stupid I was for trusting Klaus. "I heard about what happened at the house, the explosion."
Elijah sighed. "Evangeline please-"
"I told him, I told Klaus." I interrupted him, taking a seat on the edge of my bed, avoiding eye contact with him as best as I could. "He was mad, like you said he would be, he put a hefty dent in the side of the car because he slammed the door so hard."
