Evangeline POV:

"So how long's it been?" Damon questioned as he caught the football he and Stefan were tossing back and forth. "Eight, nine days?"

"Yeah, eight or nine days." Stefan answered as Damon threw the football to him. "I don't know, I lost count."

It had been approximately ten days since I arrived back in Mystic Falls, ten days since I'd last seen Klaus or Elijah, ten days since I last spoke with Katherine, and ten whole blissful days since I last laid eyes on Elena Gilbert. "We lost count of the consecutive days in which Elena Gilbert has not killed anyone." Damon stated and I scoffed, even without her humanity she was still a Royal pain in my ass. "I'd say that progress, brother."

"Or it's just the fact she doesn't know you're still hunting for the cure, which is in the possession of the Original Family by the way." I spoke, they may be determined but I doubt they would turn into the vampire hulk which is the only way they'd get the cure from the three Mikaelson siblings.

Stefan and Damon both looked at me, obviously not appreciating my pessimism. "So what are we going to do? Just throw the football around for another 159 years until Elena gets her humanity back?" I didn't know why that sounded like such a bad idea. "Because I'm cool with that."

"So am I!" I exclaimed, raising my hand in the air from my seat on the couch.

"She doesn't want the cure." Damon declaredm a fact both Stefan and I already knew. "She's gonna start killing people if she knows we're still trying to get it for her."

"Well I'm out of here." I announced, standing up from my seat and ducking down as the football barely missed the top of my head. "I've got a lunch date with Caroline Forbes."

"You're going to eat lunch with Caroline?" Damon scoffed at the idea, obviously not buying it.

"Of I'm going to stay I'll need to mend my friendships, that means I need to get along with Caroline."

"Have fun with that, don't stay out past 10 at night.'

"I'm taking your cell phone, Stefan!" I told him and he hummed in response as I snatched the electronic from the coffee table. "I'll see the two of you later."

-

"Why did you want to have lunch with me?" Caroline questioned as she took a seat across the table from me, I'd probably ask the same question if I were her. "We don't like each other, remember?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "I figured if I'm going to have to deal with you for eternity I may as well start liking you, you're Stefan's friend so I don't see you leaving anytime soon."

"How touching." Caroline replied sarcastically as she picked up her menu and began to decide on her meal. "Salad or burger with fries?"

"Salad, you may not gain weight but I've found because of the animal blood a vampire can taste in a burger it's not the best idea." The last time I'd eaten a burger I'd spent the rest of the meal trying not to launch myself over the table at the human I was seated with.

Caroline nodded her head and out her menu down as a waiter came over to us. "Welcome to the Mystic Grill, I'm Sean, can I start you off with some drinks?" The waiter asked us and I glanced at Caroline waiting for her to order first.

"I think we're ready to order our food as well." She told the waiter. "I'll take a garden salad with vinaigrette dressing on the side, and an ice water."

The waiter wrote down Caroline's order before his eyes landed on me, I smiled at him. "And for you?"

"I'll take a garden salad as well with ranch dressing on the side, and a glass of your best red wine with that."
