Evangeline POV:
I pressed the power button on my phone, shutting the screen off ready to ignore the notification when my spiteful brain began taunting me with thoughts of Klaus. Why was he calling me? What if it was important? Then my thoughts began to wander even further to what I was doing. Elijah is Klaus' brother, and here I am half naked making out with Elijah on a kitchen table.
I would never do anything with your brother that would ruin my relationship with you.
The words I had spoken to Klaus in the cemetery haunted my thoughts and the more I thought about it the more I hated myself for doing this behind his back. Thats when my phone rang once again with a call from Klaus. I couldn't hold my brain back anymore, instead of ignoring it again and continuing this contact with Elijah as I desperately wanted to, I placed my hands on his chest and pushed him back.
"I have to take this." I told him, picking up my phone before he could respond and answering the call.
Evangeline: Hey Klaus.
Klaus: Are you okay? You sound a bit odd.
Evangeline: Yeah I'm fine, I'm with Elijah just like I told Rebekah I would be.
Klaus: How is he?
I couldn't look Elijah in the eye as he backed away from me, removing his hands from my hips and depriving me of all the contact we had previously had.
Klaus: Evangeline? Are you sure you're okay?
Evangeline: I'm fine, Elijah is fine, everything is fine.
Klaus: Alright, just be careful, okay? If anything goes wrong, you get out of there.
Evangeline: Like what?
Klaus: Anything at all, just keep yourself safe. I'll see you soon.
Evangeline: Yeah, I'll see you soon.
Klaus: And Evangeline?
Evangeline: Hm?
Klaus: I'm sorry about Damon, I can't imagine how difficult that has been for you. I know how much your brothers mean to you.
Evangeline: Thank you Klaus, it means a lot that you said that.
Klaus: You're welcome, Evangeline, it's good to know you're doing better.
Evangeline: Can I ask you something, Klaus?
Klaus: Anything you want.
Evangeline: Why are you being so nice to me?
I couldn't help myself, even as Elijah listened to our every word, I had to get an answer. Perhaps my question would make him angry, and I could find it in myself to justify what I had done with Elijah.
Klaus: This is what you want, isn't it? For me to be civilized?
Evangeline: I didn't think you cared about what I want.
Klaus: Believe it or not, I do and I'm trying to be better. After everything that has happened between us, I owe it to you to try.
I felt my chest tighten at his words as Elijah turned his back on me and left the room. He was actually making an effort to change and here I was with his brother.
Evangeline: When I come back to New Orleans, I have something I want to tell you.
Klaus: You can tell me now, love, if you want.
Evangeline: I need to tell you in person, Klaus, it's about Elijah.
Klaus: Okay, we'll talk when I see you then.
