ELARA PLAYED WITH HER HANDS, tilting her head down to look at the stone ground. They were so close to finding their bounty hunter, but she couldn't help but feel like it would lead them to a dead end. She pressed her hand to the side of her temple and released a deep sigh.

The thirty-one-year old woman looked to her right. She closed her eyes again and told herself that she had to stop worrying so much about it being a dead end and to rely on the Force to bring them to their assassin to end his life so Padmé will be safe.

Suddenly, Elara chuckled. She had come a long way since Tatooine. She knew her mother would be so proud of her if she could see her right now protecting the galaxy from evil and trying to help the woman Anakin loved find her deadly assassin.

Ten years ago, Elara never thought she would be freed from slavery, and more importantly she never thought she'd become a Jedi Knight. Elara Skywalker was glad the Force drove Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to Tatooine because she never would've met all of these amazing people, and she wouldn't have met Obi-Wan Kenobi — someone she had grown fond of.

If she never met any of them, she knew her life would be a bore, especially since Obi-Wan Kenobi wouldn't be apart of it at all.

"You ready for tomorrow?"

Elara swiveled her head to the side, making eye contact with Obi-Wan as he walked towards her. She gave him a smile, wishing she hadn't been so wrapped up in worrying for Anakin and Padmé, and for thinking about many different things at once.

He stopped right next to her and turned his attention to the various buildings towering high above them. She propped her elbows on the stone railing and leaned forward, her eyes twinkling under the bright moonlight.

The Knight glanced over to her and waited for her to answer his question. Elara sighed and glanced at him. "I'm not sure if I'm truly ready for tomorrow." she whispered, causing him to look down at the ground.

Obi-Wan pulled out a small black object and held it up to her. Elara narrowed her eyes at it, noting the object was a small black ring. "This. . . this was my mother's. She said it signified luck for the person who bore it," he took her hand and opened it up, placing the ring inside, and folding her hand right back up. "I want you to have it."

"Obi. . . I can't," Elara stared at the design of the ring, her eyes tracing the symbols carved into it by whoever made it first, presumably his mother. "I can tell it is something you treasure, you keep it."

He chuckled, titling his head back. "My mother also told me to give it to a woman that. . . I call. . . my friend, a woman I want to be kept protected. The ring will protect you in case we run into some trouble." he told her.

Elara drew her eyebrows together. She could sense he lied about the friend part, but she didn't want to pry any further about it. "Well, thank you, Obi." she slipped the ring on and admired how it looked in her head.

"You're welcome," the Knight smiled, moving closer to her, but he stopped and turned to the buildings once again. "And in case anything happens to me, it can remind me of you."

Elara widened her eyes and faintly touched his hand, her lips parting. "You're not going away anytime soon." she felt chills creep along the back of her neck and she suddenly became flustered. Touching his hand made her stomach flutter and feel things she shouldn't.

Obi-Wan turned to her, becoming just as flustered as she was, eyes wide. Elara pulled her hand away from his and took a deep breath. "Are you ready for tomorrow?" she asked.

He sighed. "I worry as much as you are that this will not end well, but I hope it does," he admitted. "For the sake of Senator Amidala."

"You worry for her, too?"

"I do."

Elara nodded and heaved a sigh, turning her body towards her. She frowned and looked down at his hands once again, at the spot she once touched that sent sparks up her spine. "I think we should stop worrying about the future and live in the present. . . maybe let our guard down for once and see where it takes us."

She wanted them to be vulnerable with each other. She wanted them to pour their emotions onto each other. She wanted him specifically to tell her things like his mother, because he barely told her anything about her.

Sure, he told her of his missions and many more things about his life as she did, but she wanted to know who his mother was and what she was like. It would be something interesting to hear in all honesty.

Obi-Wan shook his head. "That will surely get us killed, Elara."

"I guess so."

He sighed. "Anyways, we should head to bed. We have a long day ahead of us."

"Right."
