Another six ravagers were now dead cause of me. The silver blade of my sword was now a blackish red from ravager blood. I grimaced and pressed a hand to my side where a ravager had swiped at me earlier. I was currently hovering above the the kingdoms main library on the west side of Roch. I scanned the area again to make sure that none of the villagers of Roch were still on the battlefield. What I didn't see was a ravager rocketing towards me from behind.
The ravager collided with me, pinning my wings to my side as we hurtled towards the Library. I braced myself for the impact I knew was coming. The ravager and I crashed through the library wall and straight through the oak floor.
There seemed to be some sort of stone basement under the library, and the floor was hurtling towards us. I quickly flipped us so that the ravager would hit the floor, not me.
A thud could be heard echoing through the basement when we hit the ground. It didn't take me long to realise that I was in fact quite far below ground level, as you could no longer here the sounds of the battle raging outside. Even though I had tucked both of my wings in as close as possible to minimise impact, I had still managed to lightly sprain my left wing. Even though it was only a minor injury, I still grimaced when I stood up.
I don't know why but I felt like I should go to the back of the basement. I tried to ignore the feeling and leap into the air so I could get back to the battle.
Despite the urgency to get back to fighting, my curiosity got the better of me and I found myself heading deeper into the basement. I wasn't sure if I was delirious or not, but the walls seemed to be whispering my name and leading me to the centre of the basement. I followed as if I had no control over my body. I found myself wandering through a maze of shelves covered head to toe in scrolls that seemed to be thousands of years old. A strange glow emitted from the centre of the mazed. Something in my bones told me I needed to go there.
When I finally reached the centre my blood ran cold.
"Impossible," I whispered.
There in the middle of the basement, surrounded by books, there was a single item.
An item that could change the fate of the battle.
