"WHAT is THAT," James yelled, pointing at Calib. Calib raised his hands over his ears and started whimpering, I quickly knelt down besides Calib and hugged him closer to me while whispering to him that it was ok. Ava and Lucinda just stared at me in shock, Ava then yelled, "THATS A RAVAGER,".

"ok, ok, calm down," I said, after I had gotten them all settled again, "let me explain, so, I couldn't sleep so I......,"

About an hour later I had explained everything to them and they were shocked.

"You saved this little one because the other's of his kind were torturing him," James said, he had an understanding voice.

"oh you poor thing, let's get you cleaned up," Lucinda said soothingly , reaching for the bandages and first aid equipment.

James helped me grab some of the food that he, Ava and Lucinda had prepared earlier. There were wild berries, apples, bits of pheasant, on top of that, there were also thin slices of bread that Lucinda had gotten yesterday in the market. Calib had enjoyed the pheasant the best and had eaten almost all of it. I only got a mouthful of pheasant and berries, but I was ok with it as I had gotten used to eating maybe one salmon a week while I was still on the run with the scroll, that was before I had met Ava and James.

A few hours later we had all finished eating and had decided that we would go and see the kings. We were heading down the hill, James was hanging back with me and Calib, who was latched on to my arm, making it a bit hard to walk. Ava and Lucinda were in front of us and were running around and tackling each other, it was kinda childish but they seemed to be having fun.

James and I came around a corner to find Lucinda pressed up against the side of a rock and Ava in front of her, holding her in place. They were kissing, outside, in the open were anyone could see them. James and I looked at each other before we both got a small smile, as it was obvious that we had the same idea.

"Get a room you two," I exclaimed while skipping past Ava and Lucinda.

"Yeah, there are kids around," James added, walking past and covering Calibs eyes.

"YOU can't say anything bro," Ava exclaimed, obviously embarrassed, "at least I'm not the one in love with The Guardian Of The Scroll,"

She pulled away from Lucinda, her face filled with a triumphant smile. James and I looked at her our faces burning. I couldn't speak or move, neither could James.

Top it all off Calib piped in by saying, "D-d-daddy,", in a voice that almost seemed as if he was asking a question.

Lucinda and Ava laughed like crazy while Calib was grabbing both my hand and James's hand and yelling, "new mummy, new daddy," in a very happy and triumphant voice. James and I were both speechless.

"You two should adopt him," Lucinda suggested, notioning to Calib.

"Correction, you MUST adopt him, he's already accepted you two as his parents after all," Ava piped in.

"Maybe,", I heard James murmur under his breath. I stared at him before he realised what he said and apologised, "OH MY GOD I'M SO SORRY I DIDN'T MEAN TO SAY THAT OUT LOUD,".

"It's ok," I stammered, "I was adopting him anyway, there's no way that I'm letting him go back to the ravagers, not with the way they treated him and I can't just abandon him on the street, he wouldn't be safe".

I thought for a moment before saying "It's good to know that you are willing to help me, it means that I won't be raising him alone,".

We continued down the hill, Ava and Lucinda in front of us again. James stayed with me and I felt his hand wrap around mine, Calib ran and caught up with Ava and Lucinda. The three of them started to talk. They were all laughing and seemed to be having a good time.

I relaxed and rested my head on James's shoulder, my wings hung loosely on my back, they were relaxed and I could feel some of my feathers trailing on the ground behind me. I felt James's arm wrap around me and pull me closer.

Before I could stop myself I grabbed James by his arm, turned him around, lifted my head and kissed him, my entire body relaxed. James's face was full of shock and surprise, his eyes closed and mine followed not even a moment later. His hands reached up and I felt his fingers on my wings.

We stood there in each other's embrace for what seemed to be at least a minute before James released me and I was able to breath again. He looked down on me, his eyes staring straight at mine. He leaned in and kissed me again, this time shorter and more forceful. His hands made their way down to my waist and stopped, I felt his lips part from mine.

After an awkward parting we continued on our way, we barely looked at each other for the rest of the walk.
