My mouth was open in shock, James was talking incoherently to himself and Lucinda was wide eyed in surprise. You see, I had expected Ava's box to be full of dry fruit and meat along with survival equipment like a hunting knife and spare water satchels, but I was SO wrong.
Ava had just finished laying three sets of lightweight armour on the ground, each with a five inch long dagger and a sword. "I also got this for you," Ava said handing a gold-bladed dagger towards me, I gratefully took it from her outstretched hand.
I felt the weight of the dagger in my hand as I stared at it speechlessly. 'this looks extremely expensive' I thought to myself 'how was she able to afford a dagger of this quality', Then I remembered that she was a princess and that she was probably extremely rich. I flipped the dagger over and admired the high quality leather and fine stitching in the handle. There was also a dragon on the blade, it happened to matched the one on my sword.
"They also come with sheafs, weaponry belts and blade sharpeners" Ava explained, handing out protective casing and rock looking thing's to us. I took mine, did a low bow and said thank you before tucking my new dagger into its sheaf and attaching it to the belt. I then slid the belt around my waist and adjusted it so it would fit me.
I had decided to put my sword in my belt as well, for easier accessibility. Lucinda excitedly, turned to Ava and said, "Thank you pumpkin,", before kissing her cheek and saying goodnight. Before long we were all lying asleep on our mats, well, everyone except me. I tossed and turned as nightmares entered my head.
