After his experience with the Conservative Chapter, Paladin wasted no time returning to the Dracula Keep. Walking into the dark throne room of King Viocene as all sanguine vampire eyes gazed upon him, Paladin, vexed by Lord Tyrule and the rest of Transylvania, had both of his hands on the grips of his sheathed swords - ready at a moment's notice.
"Lord... Inquisitor.... How was your... interactions with the... Conservative Chapter?" King Viocene's legs crossed. "I would hope they went... well..."
"I'd say it went very well!" Evius stepped forward to stand as an equal to Paladin. "They seemed to be very afraid of the Lord Inquisitor! Frightened by him, no doubt!"
"...Frightened... by the... Lord Inquisitor?" King Viocene leisurely chuckled. "I... highly doubt that..." a crimson light then floated next to her face. "In fact... I think they believe that for the... Evolution Chapter.... the Rebellious Chapter... defeat is soon to come... for both..."
What gives her such confidence?
What gives them such confidence?
The strength I've already shown, shouldn't that make her lose any confidence in being able to fight back? Isn't she well aware of how incapable the vampires are against me?
"King Viocene, can't you see how foolish you are being?" Evius smiled. "None of you are able to stop the impending change about to be forced upon Transylvania. All you can do is hope and pray that the Lord Inquisitor somehow doesn't butcher you and the Conservative Chapter - which he will."
"Change... it's sure to come... but not in the way you... think... Evius..." King Viocene as the crimson light disappeared. "Now... now... It is a matter of waiting... and seeing..."
Evius, why haven't you commanded me to attack and burn this keep down already? Having any discussions with King Viocene and the rest of these vampires is a waste of time, and we could be doing things a lot better than dealing with this.
Whatever... In the end, I'll get what I want from out of this - because I choose to seek the answers.
"King Viocene, I have some questions for you," Paladin stepped forward from Evius. "I need all these questions I have answered, there is no exception, so you must answer them - no matter the subject."
"Hmmmm... I may... or... may not... be able to... answer your questions... Lord Inquisitor..." King Viocene then held her hands together. "But... in return for answering... some of your... questions... I would like you to answer... my own..."
"Fair..." Paladin crossed his arms. "I'll answer all the questions you have if I can, and I won't stop myself from speaking the truth."
Whether or not that statement stands true, we'll soon find out.
"I'd expect nothing... less..."
"Good..." Paladin then smirked, ready to ask his lingering questions. "How was Charlotte captured by the vampires? Clearly she wasn't brought here voluntarily, so what happened?" his head then tilted slightly.
"I... am not the one... you should be asking..." King Viocene replied.
"And why is that? Shouldn't the King of Transylvania know how one of her prisoners got here?" Paladin asked. "Shouldn't the King of Transylvania know everything about her continent, and what is occurring on it?"
"I agree... However... I was not the one who... came up with the idea to kidnap a dragon... nor was I the one who... executed such a... phenomenal feat..." King Viocene explained. "Therefore... I do not know how the dragon was... dragonnapped."
Well that's an interesting twist on the word "kidnapped".
She probably could've used either term and no one would've second guessed it - outside of Charlotte.
