Part 21 - Rose

I linger by Theos door. I tilt my head and turn back to it. I raise my hand to knock, I drop my hand. I raise it again and knock. It takes a second, but Theo answers. "Will you go on a walk with me?" I ask him quietly. "I want fresh air... and I don't want to go alone."

"Okay," Theo tilts his head looking at me, but I don't meet his eyes. "Let me go get a jacket." He walks into his room and grabs two jackets. He hands one to me. "Here," he says gently. I force a smile and slide it on. He slides his own, and walks out shutting the door. I put my hands in the pockets and rock on my heels. Theo motions for me to lead the way. I walk ahead of him and head to the front doors. I look outside, today went by way too fast. It's starting to get dark. I hold open the door for Theo, and he walks out. I walk out after him. I take in a breath of the cold crisp air and look at the stars starting to form. My heart beats fast. Something feels off. I look over to Theo as we walk around the front of the building, not saying anything. I watch my feet as I walk. I look over to my left and see a ball. I smile a bit.

"Wait right here," I say to Theo. Theo nods and stops. I run to the wall the ball is by and grab it. I turn to face Theo and I kick the ball his way. He watches the ball roll to his feet. He looks down at it, then me. He takes in a deep breath and kicks it back. I stop it with my foot and kick it back to him. I move a bit to the left, and Theo kicks it back to me again, but this time it goes over my head. I duck a bit and turn watching the ball fall on the side of the wall, out of Theo's view.

"I'll get it," Theo says. I shake my head.

"It's just right here, I got it," I smile. Theo nods and kicks a rock around on the ground. I jog to where the ball landed and bend down to pick it up. I feel something poke my thigh. I stand up and reach in my pocket taking out Soojins card. I sigh and slide it back in. I'll call her tonight. I turn to walk back to Theo when I feel something sharp press into my back. I freeze, dropping the ball.

"I'm surprised you didn't see me," John laughs quietly. "Also surprised you're out here all alone," I feel the sharp object dig more into my back. I shut my eyes. The dream I had rushing back to me, I'm prepared for him to stab me.

"Where..." I take a small shaky breath. "Where were you hiding?"

"I wasn't hiding," he laughs more, his breath hot on my neck. "I was standing by this wall the whole time." I pause. How did I not see him. I feel his arm snake around my waist. I keep my eyes shut. Theo is right there. I'll scream. My body starts to move faster than my brain. I elbow his arm, making him drop the knife.

"THEO!" I scream. John looks panicked. He grabs a handful of my hair and throws me to the ground. He puts a hand on my neck, cutting off the air to my lungs. His hand is hurriedly trying to take off my pants. I can't breathe. "The.." I scratch at his arm. Then I feel the pressure come off of my neck. I gasp for air and sit up, gagging. I move back, and see Theo throw John to the ground. My vision is kind of blurry. I watch Theo start to pound John in the face. I stand up, going to go to him when I hear Keeho and Maddy.

"What the.." I watch Keeho run to Theo and pull him off of John. I hold my neck, trying to catch my breath.

"What the hell- oh fuck no," I hear Maddy start to laugh, then I see her go up to John and wind her hand back. She starts to hit him harder than I've ever seen her hit anything.

"Maddy!" I watch Jiung run and pull her back. So much is happening. I step back. I'm causing this. I'm causing all of this.

"Where is Rose?" Maddy screams as Jiung throws her over his shoulder. I stare at her. She doesn't see me. I look at Theo, he's staring at me. His eyes wide. I look down and see my pants are nearly all the way down. I pull them up and try to button them, but John broke the button. I take off Theo's jacket and wrap it around my waist to keep my pants up. I watch Keeho go to John and spit in his face. My breathing is hitched. I look up to the sky, the stars twinkling down on me. I look back to Theo. He isn't taking his eyes off of me.

"Rose," Keeho says, now spotting me. I hold my hand up to show I'm fine. "Come here," Keeho says gently. I shake my head. Because of me they're going to get in trouble. I'm making myself such a big issue.

"I'm okay," I say but my voice is hoarse. "I'm okay." I watch John start to get up and Theo throws himself onto him, putting his arm on Johns neck.

"You're not going anywhere until the police come," he hisses at John.

"I..." I watch Keeho walk to me. He puts an arm around my shoulder, but I shake it off. "I'm going to go check on Maddy, Keeho," I look at him. His eyes watching me, he's unknowing of what's about to happen. I wrap my arms around him. "I love you."

"I love you too," he says gently. "Why are you acting like you're saying goodbye? I'll be up to get you when the police come. For now please go to Maddy and take a second," I shake my head, suppressing the tears I feel coming.

"No," I say gently. "I'll come down by myself okay?"

"Okay," Keeho moves back from the hug. "I don't want you around him, go wait for the police." I nod and force a small smile. I walk past him, I stop right by John. I look down at him and take my foot, stepping on the side of his face.

"When you find out, just know you didn't win." I say stepping into his face. I move my foot. Theo looks very confused. I walk past them both and go inside. I go to Maddy's room and knock on the door. No answer. I pick at my fingers. I go to Jiungs room and knock. Jiung answers and immediately steps out of the way. I walk in and go to Maddy sitting on his bed. She has a towel on her hands. I sit down by her and take her right hand. "Damage?" I ask quietly.

"Bloody knuckles and a few broken nails," she laughs. "I wanted to go back..."

"You wanted to kill him," Jiung says shutting the door.

"Yeah and you should've let me!" Maddy huffs.

"You wouldve went to prison," Jiung sighs.

"It's worth it!" She laughs weakly.

"It's not," I shake my head and give her hand back. "I came here to tell you I love you," I nudge her, not being able to look her in the eyes. "I've caused so much damage and trouble," I laugh weakly.

"I love you too," Maddy smiles a bit. "You're always trouble," she jokes, nudging me back. I force a smile.

"I'm sure I won't be soon," I Pat her knee. "I'll see you soon okay?" I stand up, feeling hot tears going down my cheeks.

"Rose," Maddy stands, I watch her. Beg me to stay. Please. Tell me I'm not trouble. Tell me to stay. "Your neck," she reaches her hand. I flinch back.

"Is it bad?" I ask.

"Yeah," Jiung whispers. "It's really bruised," he frowns.

"Ah that's okay," I shrug. "It'll go away soon." I nod. I finally look at Maddy's face. "Don't miss me too much okay?" I smile weakly.

"You'll just be in your room," she smiles a bit. "I'll see you in a little when the police get here." I nod. I search her eyes.

"Okay," I nod. "Bye guys," I give a small wave and walk out, I shut the door. I keep my hand on the door handle. This will all be over soon. It will. I take in a breath and walk to my room. I go inside and shut the door. I lock it. I go to the pills on my dresser and pick them up.
