Maddy's POV:
I walk back into the hospital and go to the waiting room. I stand in front of Nina. "Did they act up?"
"No, they're just annoying," Nina laughs a bit. Jiung scoffs.
"Rude," he whispers. I smile a bit.
"I'll be back okay?" I turn and head to Rose's room. I go in and see her turned over on her side. I walk up to her bed and sit down. "Rose?"
"Hm?" She groans.
"Did I wake you?" I ask quietly
"No," she says. Her voice is hoarse. No wonder she wasn't talking.
"Okay," I set her bag down. "I brought your stuff," I say and bite the inside of my cheek. "How do you feel?"
"Shitty," she whispers and rolls over to look at me. I frown a bit.
"I'm sorry," I whisper. "I..." I trail off and take a deep breath. I want to tell her I'm sorry for not realizing. But I don't want to bring it back up.
"No I'm sorry," she says carefully. "I was selfish."
"You weren't selfish," I say with furrowed brows. "Let's not talk about this right now okay?" I Pat her hand.
"Sir you can't come in her room yet, it's family only," I hear a doctor say from outside Rose's door. I turn and see Theo talking to a doctor, the stars in his hand. I grin.
"That's her husband!" I call. "They're married." Theo's face goes bright red, Rose snickers. I smile more hearing her laugh.
"Why didn't you say so? Go ahead in," the doctor laughs a bit. Theo stares at me with evil eyes. Theo walks in and sets the stars down on the table right by her bed.
"What's this?" Rose asks, looking at Theo, then immediately looking away.
"Your stars, so you don't have nightmares, or if you do have nightmares they'll calm you," Theo says with a nod, he is intensely staring at her, like if she moves she'll fall apart.
"Thank you grumpy," Rose sits up a bit. She shuts her eyes. "I'm dizzy whoa," she whispers.
"Do you need water? Hold on I'll go get water.." Theo doesn't even let Rose answer before he's off to get a drink. Rose stares at me.
"Is he okay?" She laughs weakly.
"I think he just..." I choose my words wisely. "I think he just wants to make sure you're doing okay, since he was yanno the one who..." I look away from Rose. She looks at her hands.
"Found me," she whispers. "I should apologize to him."
"Why?" I look back to her. "He saved you, you don't need to say sorry."
"I know but..." she pauses. "Wait so does the doctor think him and I are married now?" She says changing the subject.
"I believe so," I laugh a bit and tilt my head, watching a small smile go on her face.
"That's amazing," she shakes her head. "I'm sure he hates you for that."
"Eh let him," I shrug. "He would've thrown a fit if he didn't get in here so."
"I would not have," Theo says from behind me, making me jump.
"How the hell are you so sneaky?" I ask. Theo shrugs and walks to Rose. He hands her the water, Rose uses her right hand to grab the cup, but she can't grip it all the way. She tries again and with the same outcome.
"Your arm is healing. It'll take a second for you to get the grip back," Theo says gently. I watch him with raised eyebrows, he sits down by her on the bed. Rose takes her left hand and grabs the cup, holding it to her lips and drinking.
"Theoooo," I start to tease and he turns his head, shooting daggers at me. I raise my hands. "Never mind," I whistle. Rose hands the cup back to Theo. "Well I'll be back, I'm going to go talk to Keeho," I stand up. Rose sits up more.
"I want to see him," she says.
"You can't yet, family only right now," I say with a frown. "But tomorrow maybe."
"Okay," she leans back with a sigh.
"But I'll tell him you said hi," I smile at her. She nods and looks away from me. I turn to the door and walk out to the waiting room.
Theo's POV:
I hold the cup in my hand, staring at her face. The color is back in her cheeks, and her lips are pink. I look down into the empty cup. "Do you want more water?" I ask her.
"No," she says quietly, her voice is distant. "Not right now."
"Alright," I set the cup down on the table by her bed and stand up. I look back at her, she looks at me and looks away quickly. I nibble my bottom lip. "Don't feel weird around me," I say.
"I.." she shifts in the bed. "I don't..." her voice trails off. "I just feel bad. I feel bad you had to find me like that."
"I would rather me have found you than not at all," I say to her, she looks at me. "Plus, how I saw you isn't you. This is you. The breathing, talking, annoying you," I raise my eyebrows. She laughs a bit.
"I guess I'm more annoying right?" She tilts her head, then looks away.
"Only a bit," I joke. "Get rest. The stars are right there," I say to her. She nods and looks at me for a second.
"Theo?" She whispers.
"Yeah?" I ask back.
"Thank you," she says quietly.
"You're welcome," I say and tap my fingers. "You don't need to thank me you know."
"But I do," she sits up. "You're really like my guardian angel, the amount of times you've saved me."
"Ew," I roll my eyes, but I feel my heart skip a beat. Butterflies erupt in my stomach. I feel warm. "I'm not a guardian angel, I just find you at weird times I guess."
"I suppose," she smiles a bit and lays back down. "Either way, thank you."
"Hm," I nod and watch her close her eyes. I take a breath and turn to the door walking out and back to the waiting room.
