29 - Rose

Time Skip - Day before the first trial

"I don't understand," I say to Keeho as he sits on the edge of Theo's bed. He looks pissed.

"You don't understand? I don't understand why I'm not the one going with you, or damn Rose even Maddy, to these trials. Why Theo?" He stares at me. I stare back, my phone clenched in my hand.

"It's.. you guys would act a fool in there." I say slowly. "Like I don't know, you'd find a way to kill him."

"I..." Keeho ticks his head. "I mean okay that's valid but still..." He sighs.

"It's just easier. I don't want you guys to.. to have to be around him. Plus Theo offered." I mean that's not a total lie, he did sort of offer.

"Right," Keeho stands up from the bed. "Right." He repeats and walks up to me. "Will you be safe? If you need us there, we're a phone call away you know that."

"I know," I nod. "I'll be okay. I'm sorry if I upset you," I whisper.

"It's okay, you don't need to be sorry," he nods and wraps his arms around me, pulling me close to him. "I love you Rose."

"I love you more," I say with a voice crack. I pull back from the hug. "Do you know where Maddy is?"

"No clue, we haven't been talking." He says with a shrug. I stare at him.

"Why?" I raise my eyebrows.

"Ever since the hospital we just Kinda... drifted." He sighs a bit.

"Yeah no that's not gonna fly." I shake my head. I walk past him and open the door, right as I do Theo is standing there his hand on the handle.

"I brought you... donuts..." Theo looks at Keeho and gives him an awkward smile, Theo looks back at me. "And a vanilla bean drink thing," he steps inside, standing next to me. He hands me the box of donut holes and the drink.

"Thank you," I say with a smile. I turn back to Keeho. "This isn't over. We will have an intervention." I say pointing my finger at him.

"Sure," Keeho says with an eye roll. He walks up to Theo and pokes his shoulder. "Dont be a dick to her okay? She's vulnerable."

"I'm right here," I say with a mouth full of my drink. I swallow. "I'm perfectly okay." Keeho whistles and ruffles my hair.

"I'll talk to you later miss," Keeho says to me before walking past Theo and out the door. Theo shuts the door.

"What was that about?" He asks me

"He was upset I'm taking you to the trials and not him. But I'm just scared him and Maddy would try to... I don't know murder him or something."

"He deserves it."

"Theo!" I laugh a bit. "No deserves to die," I say quietly. My eyes glance to my stars that are now on his ceiling, Theo follows my gaze.

"I wish I would've messed up his face a bit more," Theo says with a small laugh. I smile. Over the course of the time I've been staying with him, he's warmed up a bit more to me.
