Part 56 - Side Character Special - Nina

I get up from the floor after Maddy and Rose leave the room. I brush off my pants and tap my fingers on my leg, forgetting why I stood up in the first place. "Hey Nina," I watch as Intak walks in front of me. "Can I talk to you for a second?"

"Yeah sure," I nod and stick my hands in my pocket.

"I mean privately," he adds with a small sniffle.

"You didn't make that very clear," I furrow my brows. "But yeah, where do you want to go?"

"How about in the vocal room?" He tilts his head to the warmup room.

"Okay," I turn and head in that direction.

"Why do you walk so fast?" Intak says with a laugh as he walks fast to keep up with me.

"I don't know," I shrug as I open the door to the room. "I have places to be I guess."

"Right," Intak walks in behind me and shuts the door. It's completely pitch black, I squint to try and see Intak.

"What did you want to talk about?" I ask him.

"Well I've been thinking... we've been getting along really well lately you know," he clears his throat. "And we've gotten closer."

"As friends do," I nod.

"Friends?" He asks almost too quietly.

"Yeah I mean aren't we friends?"

"I.. well yeah.." he sighs. "But I think I've developed feelings for you."

"No," I laugh. "No, you haven't."

"No? What do you mean?"

"I would've noticed," I cross my arms.

"I guess you're not too observant then," I hear Intak lean against something.

"I am very observant," I scoff. "Plus if you have feelings for me then.." I pause.

"Then what?"

"Then that's kind of scary," I laugh, not really knowing how to react.

"You could let me down easy you know. Instead of making fun of me," I hear the door handle turn, squinting to see Intak opening the door.

"No no," I grab his arm to move him away from the door. I reach my other hand and shut the door again. "I just mean, I like.. I guess I'm sorta fond of you."

"Fond of me?" He chuckles.

"Yeah.. you know what I mean," I drop my hand from his arm.

"I really don't," I can almost hear the smile in his voice. "Explain further."

"You're an asshole," I huff. "You know I'm not good at this."

"I know," His tone is soft as he speaks now. "But I want you to say it."

"Say what?"

"You know what."

"Oh," I breathe and move hair from my face. "You first."

"No you first."

"No."

"Yes."

"Fine," I tilt my head back. "I sorta... yeah... I have feelings for you too."

"There it is," Intak laughs a little. "So we both like each other?"

"I guess so," I smile a little to myself, happy he can't see me. I don't know how I haven't realized he had feelings for me. "Now what?"

"I don't know, what normally happens after this stuff?"

"I don't know," I uncross my arms. "Ask me on a date."

"Oh.. right," Intak takes a deep breathe. "Do you want to go on a date with me?"

"No," I smile happily and open the door, making Intak move.

"I don't understand you," Intak laughs as I step out of the room.

"Take me to dinner after camping," I turn to face Intak as he still stands in the dark room. "Okay bye," I turn and look around room. I see Rose, and Rose sees me. She stands from the floor and runs over to me.

"We're having a girls night tonight," she says with a beaming smile.

"Whose we?" I try to match her smile.

"You, Maddy and I," Rose claps her hands together. "Doesnt that sound nice?"

"It does, it does," I nod. "Tonight we are?"

"Yes, whenever Maddy gets back we're gonna go to her room and get ready," Rose rocks on her heels.

"Where even did Maddy go?" I ask glancing around.

"Somewhere with Jiung I think," Rose bites her top lip, then her face drops. "Do you think it'll be safe to go out?"

"Oh definitely, the storm shouldn't be as bad later on," I search her face.

"No I mean, like us being three girls going out alone," Rose whispers.

"Why are we whispering? Also yes, it'll be okay," I whisper back.

"Okay okay," Rose exhales a long breath.

"Well I hope Maddy gets back before it gets too late," I cross my arms. "I don't want to go out at a weird hour."

"Right," She huffs. "Oh! There she is," Rose says as Makayla and Jiung enter the room. They're holding hands, and laughing about something. Maddy spots us and drops jiungs hand, running up to where we are.

"Are you guys ready? I have a lot to share with you," Maddy says giddy.

"Yes, let's go get ready," Rose smiles. "I'm ready to hear what you have to say, it seems juicy."

"It is," Maddy says in a high pitched voice. She hooks arms with Rose and I, then heads to the door.

"I have something to share with you guys too," I say with a small nod, trying to add to the conversation.

"Gossip, fun," Rose laughs a little as we walk down the hallway to Maddy's room. I nibble on my bottom lip excited for the night to come, but rethinking what happened with Intak in the warmup room.
