34 - Two

"So what movie are we gonna watch?" I ask Keeho, taking a seat back on the floor with a plate of cake. My stomach rumbles, I haven't eaten all day. I clench my jaw and stare at the sugary dessert in front of me.

"Whats your favorite horror movie?" Keeho sits down by me.

"Wasn't it Scream?" Theo asks, I look up at him. He takes a slow bite of his cake. I glance at Keeho, who is also looking at him. "What?" He asks with a mouth full of cake.

"Nothing," I smile a bit and look back down at my plate. "Yes it's scream, I love scream."

"Okay," Keeho nods. "We can.."

"What about Chucky?" Intak chimes in.

"I hate dolls," I whisper with a laugh. "They're my biggest fear besides the ocean."

"Then that'll make it more fun!" Nina smiles. "We should watch it." I move my cake around on my plate, no longer wanting to eat it.

"I like really really hate dolls," I say again and look at Nina. She pouts. I take a small breath. "Okay we can watch it." I move across the floor on my knees to put my back against Maddy's bed. I glance at the TV as Keeho searches for Chucky. I feel someone sit down beside me. I glance over, Maddy nudges me with her shoulder.

"I'll protect you from the dolls," she scrunches her nose. I smile and look past her, Jiung is looking at Maddy like he's seeing the world for the first time. His eyes are bright and full of admiration.

"Go sit with Jiung," I whisper. "I think he wants you to." Maddy furrows her brows and looks at Jiung. She turns around fast and puts her hand over her mouth.

"How long has he been staring at me?" She whispers

"Awhile, go sit with him, I'll be fine," I laugh and nudge her. She tilts her head.

"Are you sure?" She asks.

"Positive. Go," I motion for her to go.

"I'm nervous," she says not moving.

"Don't be," I shake my head. "Go!" I gently flick her shoulder. She takes a deep breath and stands up, walking over to Jiung. I smile watching her sit by him. I set the cake beside me and look at the screen as the movie starts. I pull my legs close to my chest and lay my head on my head on my knees.

"Flower?" Theo asks, I feel him sit down where Maddy just was. "Eat some cake."

"I'm not hungry," I whisper and turn my head to look at him, keeping my head on my knees.

"I know for a fact you are hungry," he takes some cake on the fork. "Your stomach has been growling all day, here open," he puts the fork by my lips. I furrow my brows and shake my head. Theo sighs and moves the fork back. He clears his throat and starts to move the fork like a 'train'. "Open," he says. I laugh and lift my head up, opening my mouth. He gently feeds me some cake. I chew slowly, then swallow. I feel eyes on me. I turn my head and see Maddy looking at me wide eyed. I stare back at her, then turn back to Theo.

"Really I'm okay," I say to him and glance at the screen, I look away immediately when Chucky makes his first appearance. Theo sets down the plate and stands up. He goes to the light switch and turns off the lights. The room is now dark besides the tv glow. I hug my legs closer.

"Come here, they won't see us," Theo whispers. I squint in the dark, he has his arms open. I hesitate, but move over and lay my head on his shoulder. "You're a big scaredy cat," he says quietly, his hand rubbing up and down my arm.

Theo's POV:

"You're a big scaredy cat," I say to her, holding her close, making sure she feels protected. That's all she deserves, is to feel safe.
