The List. 13. Rose

"Where we thought we could fly," I wipe my eyes and get out.

"I haven't been to one of these in years!" Nina says.

"Me too," Maddy and I look at each other as we say the same thing and smile a bit. We walk into the building. Maddy goes to the cashier and pays for us.

"Come on," Maddy calls. Nina and I walk to her. We take off our shoes and set them in a cubby. I look around and see a specific trampoline in the back. I grab Maddy and Nina's hand, running to the trampoline.

"Walk!" A worker calls. I slow down and purse my lips together. We go on the trampoline and I walk to the corner and lift up the padding. Diana's name is still there from when she wrote it years ago. I move the padding more and something falls. It's a bag and it has three plastic rings in it. My eyes widen.

"She kept them," I open the bag and look At the rings. There's one with a butterfly, one with a ladybug and one with a moth. We got these dumb rings from the ball machine. It took almost three dollars. Diana had a moth ring, Maddy had the butterfly and I had the ladybug. I hand Maddy the butterfly ring and I put on the ladybug ring, then slip the moth one in my pocket. I glance to Nina who is jumping like there is no tomorrow.

"I can't believe she kept them," Maddy laughs and steps back, starting to jump. "So this is what she left here!" She says as she jumps. I nod and look at the ring with a smile. I walk and start jumping with Maddy and Nina. The three of us jumping at the same time makes us jump super high.

"It's like flying!" Nina says giddy. I laugh.

"It really is!" I jump, then allow myself to fall on my back making me bounce. I watch as Maddy and Nina do the same.

"You guys can't lay there!" The same worker calls.

"Hey! Their friend just killed herself. Cut us slack!" Nina calls. I hear the worker mutter something and walk away. I stifle a laugh.

"So is this is the list of errands we are running?" I turn my head to Maddy.

"Yes ma'am." Maddy reaches and grabs my hand. "Do you think she's with us?"

"Either that or fighting George Washington in hell," I laugh a bit, a ping in my chest forms and I sigh. "I'll race you to the far wall!" I get up and start running, bouncing slightly from the trampolines. I touch the wall and look back. Nina and Maddy are standing where I left them.

"You cheated!" Maddy calls and runs full force at me. She tackles me and then lays beside me.

"Ehhum," Nina says standing above us.

"No nicole-" I start but she flops down on top of Maddy and I. I groan and laugh. Maddy pokes at Nina's side making her squirm and get off. I watch as they start to chase each other around. I look at the ceiling and can't help but feel like Diana is here, laughing with us. I sit up and stand. I start jumping again. Nina and Maddy stop running around when they find some dodge balls. "Oh no," I whisper and duck as Maddy throws one at me. I stand straight and catch the one Nina threw. I throw it back at them. "This isn't fair! It's one to one!"

"I can help," I hear a deep voice next to me. I turn my head seeing a blonde guy with dark eyes. It clicks. Chase. Chase was our friend for awhile in highschool until he moved to Germany.

"Chase?" I whisper as a ball full force hits me in the head making me fall back. "Ow!" I yell. Chase laughs and extends his hand. I take it and stand up.

"Wait.. Chase Goodwin?" Maddy calls and makes her way to us.

"Chase why are you... long time no see," I say, a little bewildered that he's here.

"Hey guys," he smiles. "I got a letter from Diana, then a phone call.." he shifts. "She said she wanted me to join you guys for some of this bucket list stuff. At least the ones I was here for."

"Ah," Maddy nods. "Well Chase, this is Nina," Nina gives a wave. Chase waves back.

"So are we just gonna stand here or are we gonna use the hour we have here to play some dodge ball?" Chase picks up the ball that hit me. "I'm on Ro's team."

"Alright, let's win this thing," Nina says to Maddy. They go back to the opposite side.

"Ready casanova?" Chase says to me. I pause. Casanova. He would call me that because of my eyes.

"As I'll ever be," I say and smile getting ready. I feel my phone buzz. "Hold on," I step to the side and get out my phone. Theo. I look at Chase, Nina and Maddy. I look back at my phone and decline. I slip my phone back in my pocket. "Alright, hit me!" I say. Maddy winds her hand up and launches a ball at me. I duck. "Not literally," I laugh and walk to the ball. I grab it and throw it back.

"Hey hours up girls!" A staff member calls. I frown.

"Well I guess that's that," Nina drops the ball.

"I guess so," Maddy walks to Chase and I. "So Chase are you gonna follow us in your car or?"

"I took the bus so I can ride with you guys, if that's alright," Chase scratches the back of his neck. My eyes glance to his bicep and I see a tattoo. Huh.

"Yeah that's cool! You can sit with Rose in the back," Maddy smiles. I nod and make my way off of the trampoline. I walk to the cubbies and grab my shoes and slip them on. Everyone else puts their shoes on too. We all make our way out of the building and to the car. I get in the back seat and grab the bucket list.
14: go to where Maddy would not stop sneezing for the life of her. You'll find something else there.
I look down at the ladybug ring, then touching the moth ring in my pocket.

"You okay?" Chase whispers to me.

"Oh yeah I'm good," I look at him. "We should catch up yanno, before I go back to Korea and you go back to Germany."

"Yes we should." He nods. "Soon yeah?"

"Yeah," I look back at the list as Maddy starts driving.
