I wake up, a sharp pain in my shoulder. I groan a bit moving to my back from my side. The sun is glaring into the treehouse, making the colorful glass bottles around us illuminate dancing lights on the wall. I sit up and rub my left shoulder. I look around, Nicole and Makayla are still asleep. I grab my phone and check the time, 8:30 am. The showing for Diana is in three hours. I crawl, moving carefully around the girls. I go to the ladder and climb down. I grip my phone as I walk into the house. I glance at the couches. Keeho is asleep, and so is Jorge. I move to behind the couch and look on the floor. Theo is sound asleep on the floor. I smile a little and go to the bathroom. I shut the door and lock it. I set down my phone, then use the restroom. When im done I stand up and tie my pj pants back. I go to the sink and wash my hands. I dry them off and pick up my phone. "I'll just shower at Anna's house," I mumble, looking at my reflection. My hair is an absolute mess. I have really bad bags under my eyes. Not to mention my breath smells like old alcohol. I purse my lips together. I keep looking at myself, studying my own face. Everything Nicole said last night slowly seeping back to my mind. I give a shrug and open the door. I walk to the living room again, and pick up the list from the table by the couch.
18: spread my ashes at our special place. Don't be sad I'm gone okay? Celebrate the life I had.
I set the list down and rub my eyes. Our special place. She means the abandoned driving range by the highway. I tilt my head back and take a deep breath. I turn, going to the kitchen. I open the cupboard and get some bread. I go to the toaster and pop two pieces in. I shift my weight from leg to leg, taking my hand and rubbing my shoulder. I must have slept on it wrong, it hurts super bad. I face the living room, looking at all the decorations Makayla's mom has around while waiting for my toast. "Oh that's cool..." I whisper, looking at a painting of a tree. The toast pops, making me jump. "Jesus Christ," I laugh a little and grab the toast out.

"You're being loud," Keeho mutters sleepily.

"Sorry princess," I say in a hushed tone. I open the fridge and get out some butter. I open a drawer and get a butter knife. I butter the toast, then grab a paper towel and set the pieces on it. I put the butter back and set the knife in the sink. I walk to the living room with my toast and sit down in an empty chair. I take a bite of my toast, and look over to Keeho. He's staring at me. "Oh hi," I say with toast in my mouth, I use my hand to cover in front of my face while I chew.

"You're annoying," Keeho grumbles and rolls over.

"Someone's grumpy," I mumble back and take another bite. I shift a bit in my seat, then flinch at the shooting pain in my shoulder. "Why did I actually sleep in the treehouse? It made my bones all wack."

"What?" Theo says quietly, with a yawn. He rolls to his back.

"Nothing," I shake my head and stand up, not wanting to bother them anymore than I have. "Go back to sleep." I take my toast and go back outside in the backyard. I sit down in the lawn chair. I shiver a bit at the cold air. I finish the last bite of my first piece of toast and start on the other one. I watch the treehouse with annoyance. I look away from it and watch the birds that are flying around. Everything is so slow this morning. It feels nice, not immediately jumping to do stuff. I finish my second piece of toast and crumble my napkin up, holding it in my hands. I stand up again, and go back inside. I throw away the paper towel and grab my phone from my pocket.

"What did you say before?" Theo's voice is quiet from behind me. I turn to him. He looks exhausted.

"It's not important, why are you still awake?" I ask and slide my phone back into my pocket.

"I'm awake now, that's all that matters," Theo says with a stretch. His shirt slightly comes up when he does, my eyes immediately look away from him. "Why are you being so weird?"
