Part 55 - side character special - Maddy

I pout, laying on the floor by Nina. My hair feels static like and overwhelming. "Why can't we play Monopoly though?" Keeho asks breaking the silence.

"It takes too long and plus, we have too many people," I answer, sitting up on my elbows. I glance over to Rose and Theo. Rose looks upset. I sit up fully and wave my hand at her so she looks at me. When she looks, I tap my hand twice on the floor to ask if she wants to go out of the room. She nods. I stand and so does she.

"I'll be right back," Rose tells Theo before walking over to me. I take her arm and walk with her outside of the room.

"What's wrong?" I ask her carefully. She just shakes her head and deeply inhales.

"I'm okay," Rose answers with a distant look.

"You definitely aren't," I poke her arm. "Tell me."

"I can't tell you anything, when nothings wrong," Rose raises her eyebrows.

"Tell me. Now," I furrow my eyebrows. Rose tilts her head back, then lifts it.

"Hey Jiung is looking at you," she says with a grin. I turn around and look into the room. Jiung is on his phone. I look back at Rose and point my finger at her.

"Now why would you do that?" I shake my finger.

"You really like him, don't you?" Rose smiles

"I.. stop trying to change the subject!" I cross my arms.

"What happened at the airport.." Rose tilts her head.

"With Theo? Speaking of Theo.. what happened?"

"No not the Theo thing," Rose shakes her head. "I mean with Jiung kissing your forehead."

"Oh..." I feel my cheeks heat up. "Stop avoiding my questions you gremlin! What happened with Theo?"

"Something with the old ceo, it's all fine now," Rose shrugs.

"Old?" I lean back against the wall.

"Yeah Jorge is like the new ceo or something," Rose nods.

"That's news to me," I laugh. "Good for him though."

"Now about Jiung.." Rose stretches her arms. "You like him a lot?"

"Um," I search Rose's face. She looks off. Her eyes are almost.. dead looking. "Yeah I do, I do like him a lot."

"Good I'm glad," Rose smiles big. "And he's nice to you yeah?"

"Of course, I wouldn't want to be around him if he wasn't," I rub my arms. "He's a really good guy. We're actually going on a karaoke date next week after camping, if you and Theo wanted to come."

"I'm sure he'd like that," Rose takes a breath. "Hey Maddy?"

"Yeah Rose?" I watch rose's face fall, like a mask she was wearing suddenly drops.

"He won't leave me alone," she whispers.

"Who?" I lean off of the wall. "John?"

"I don't.." Rose shakes her head. "I don't want to bother you with anything but I can't.." she rubs her face.

"No, bother me with it. Please," I whisper. "I don't want you to bottle this up. What's going on? What is John doing?"

"It's not.. like he's actually here. But it's mental. I took your advice and Tae- Theo's.. advice and started to allow myself to process everything," Rose steps back a bit. "It's like when I shut my eyes and when I do anything he's there. It feels like he's there, like he never left," Rose takes a small breath before continuing. "Like when we went to get coffee, I kept looking over my shoulder thinking I was going to see him. And sometimes when Theo touches me.." Rose pauses. I feel my blood heat up.
