Part 33 - Two

"Yeah?" I ask Maddy. I search her face. She looks torn.

"Can I explain?" She asks.

"Go ahead," I whisper and step out of the room shutting the door.

"Follow me," Maddy says. I hesitate, but do so. She walks me to her room and opens the door. There's balloons and cake. The balloons read out 'WE ARE PROUD OF YOU' I blink. Keeho is sitting on the floor, Nina and Intak are looking at something on Nina's phone. Jiung is sitting in Maddy's desk chair. "It was Keehos dumb idea to act like we were planning something without you. It was so clearly in pour taste."

"It clearly was," Theo says from behind me. I turn around.

"Why are you here- wait okay," I turn back to Maddy. "You guys thought it would be a good idea to, act like I was a depressing mood killer, just to surprise me... on the day I had to testify against my rapist?"

"In theory it seemed okay," Keeho calls.

"In what Theory... Keeho I'm going to beat your ass," Theo starts to walk into the room, Keeho gets up.

"If you can catch me, grandpa," Keeho runs past Theo, Theo chases him.

Theo's POV:

Once I get Keeho far enough away, he stops and turns to me. I catch my breath. "Why did you want to talk to me away from everyone? And why did you want it to be secret?" Keeho laughs a bit.

"How do I kiss a girl?" I ask, still trying to catch my breath.

"Kiss... no way!" Keeho starts to laugh more. "You like Rose!" He shouts.

"Shut up!" I hush him. "I just.. need advice."

"This is great! First Jiung..." Keeho trails off.

"Jiung?" I ask.

"Yeah he wanted to know how to tell if a girl likes him," Keeho nods.

"Huh," I move hair from my face.

"I'm like the love master," He wiggles his fingers. I cringe.

"Yanno nevermind, I'll ask Intak," I nod and turn.

"Wait wait no, let me help," Keeho says. I turn back to him. "If you want to kiss Rose," I glare at him. "Sorry a girl named after a flower," I sigh. "Ask her first if you can kiss her, if she yes, kiss, if she says no, no kiss."

"Well no shit, but when is the right time?" I ask.

"When it feels right," Keeho stretches.

"I..." I roll my eyes. "Okay thanks Aristotle," I huff. "Also... what was up with Jiung and Maddy earlier?"

"Oh well," Keeho laughs. "Maddy heard you guys walk in, so they did that whole thing to distract you guys," Keeho nods. "But looking back on it we definitely should not have planned it out like that."

"Yeah it was pretty shitty," I tell him. "Rose cried. A lot." Keehos face falls.

"Because of us?" He whispers.

"Yeah," I put my hands in my suit pant pockets.

"I need to go hug her right now," Keeho moves past me swiftly and then I hear him running. I stare at where he was standing.

"Should I like.. ask her on a date first?" I whisper to myself. "I should probably... yeah I'll do that." I turn and head back to the room.

Rose's POV:

"Yeah maybe the words I chose weren't the best," Nina nods. I shake my head.

"Yeah you all kinda suck for doing it this way, but thank you," I whisper and motion to the balloons. "It means a lot."

"I feel like I owe you my life," Maddy whispers to me, her and I are now on the floor.

"No, just buy me ice cream tomorrow," I whisper back.

"Deal," she wraps her arm with mine and lays her head on my shoulder. I pat her arm. I feel still kinda upset, but also now more happy.

"So Intak," I start. Intak looks up from Nina's phone. "How's the video games going?"

"Good, I defeated two games," he nods.

"On easy mode," Nina chimes in.

"It makes it fun!" Intak huffs.

"Rose!" I jump, Keeho runs in and dive hugs me. "I'm sorry for being an asshole. I should have planned this better, forgive me."

"Keeho it's okay," I laugh and Pat his back. "It's okay. Thank you for setting this up."

"We have some horror movies, I know you love those," Keeho gets up. "And we can eat cake."

"Okay," I nod and look at the door. Theo is standing there, not coming in. He's looking at Jiung. I look at Jiung, Jiung is looking at him.

"Are you mad at me?" Jiung asks Theo, like a kid asking his older brother if he was upset.

"No Jiung, you guys are just dumb," Theo walks in and stands by Nina and Intak, then slaps intaks phone out of his hand.

"Bro why?" Intak angrily groans and grabs his phone.

"We know," Maddy sighs. "Also can we talk about how Theo just picked up rose and moved her earlier? Like hello?"

"What is there to talk about?" Theo asks. "I'm just strong."

"You guys seem oddly friendly now," Maddy squints.

"No, she's still annoying," Theo says with no emotion. I gasp and take off my jacket, throwing it at him. The room goes silent. I realize my scar is visible now.

"Anyways who wants cake?" Maddy stands. I put my left hand on my scar.

"Meeee," Nina stands with Intak. Theo walks over to me and bends down. He hands me my jacket and moves some hair from my face.

"Let's get some cake yeah?" He says to me gently.

"Theo and Rose sitting in a treee," Maddy coos. I stand and go up to her, I put my hand on her mouth.

"Jiung and Maddy sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g-" she puts her hand on my mouth.

"What the hell are y'all doin?" Keeho laughs. I look at Theo, his face is red. I look at Jiung, his face is red. I look back to Maddy and we both drop our hands.

"Hush," we say to each other, then smile.

"So tell us, what was the verdict?" Jiung says clearing his throat.

"Oh ah," I look down and rock on my heels. "He got 25 years," I smile a bit. Maddy claps.

"That's great! You did so good," she rubs my shoulders.

"Honestly it should've been more," Keeho sighs. "But that's good too."

"I hope he rots," Nina says happily. I laugh a little.

"Me too," I whisper. For the first time in months, I feel okay again.
