You choked, trying to hold in a cough and keep the familiar soft, magenta petals off of the floor. Your pale, shaking hands reached for your coat and you threw it over your shoulders, barely feeling strong enough to function properly. How long had it been since you developed feelings for the short and adorably awkward human girl? How long had she been neglecting you in favor of those demons? You had no idea anymore. All you knew is that she was quite literally killing you and was still too oblivious to notice that anything was wrong.

"You're going out again, human?" A voice asked behind you. Since you were still technically the Daemos' "prisoner," Asch was very observant of when you left the house.

You gave him a small nod in response, too afraid to speak and start coughing. With every day that passed, you grew a little weaker. Your lungs filled with petals and some full flowers until breathing became a strain. It hurt to speak. It hurt to breathe. You were getting so sick of living like this.

Asch stepped closer, looking you over. "Where have you been going without us?" He demanded. His eyes were their usual cold glare until he saw you from the front. You looked so... pale and sickly, accentuated by your reddened cheeks and nose. You wore dark circles under red, puffy eyes and your lips, formerly soft and flushed, were pale, chapped, and quivering. "You look... terrible..." He huffed. "Who did this to you?!"

You attempted to push the taller male away from you, but it was more of a tap. Your legs wobbled beneath you; You could barely keep yourself on your feet. "N-No one..." You stuttered, placing a hand over your mouth to keep any petals out of sight. "A-And I'm just g-going for a little walk, nothing that interesting..."

The Daemos prince glanced down at your legs, which were on the verge of buckling under your own weight. "You're not going anywhere like that." He stated, crossing his arms. "Clearly, you got sick again. Come with m-" He went to grab your wrist and lead you away but you shoved his hand away and bolted towards the door. It slammed behind you and you speed-walked to the elevator, making sure you'd be in there alone.

You immediately crumbled to the ground as another mass of pink petals rose in your throat like bile. You just needed to get down a few floors. Jake was already waiting for you in his own apartment to do make sure you were still doing alright. He also was always dressed and ready when you showed up, just in case he had to bring you to the hospital. He was a really good friend to you. Much better than Ava had been recently...

The elevator doors opened and you stumbled out, slowly making your way to Jake's apartment. You weakly knocked on the door and he was there to open it just seconds later. "H-Hey, (Y-" In an instant, your legs buckled beneath you weight just as fresh tears welled in your eyes and a few petals fell from your lips in a choked sob. His arms quickly wrapped around your smaller form and he pulled you inside the apartment. "(Y/n), h-hey, are you alright...?"

"No!" You gasped out, clinging onto the fabric of his shirt. "I don't wanna die, Jake!"

Jake sighed, rubbing small circles on your back. "Y-You're not gonna die..." He said, softly. "I'm not gonna let that happen. We're gonna get you the surgery and-"

"N-No!" You buried your face in his shoulder. "I-I don't wanna the s-stupid surgery, I-I want Ava!" You sobbed.

Jake frowned. He knew well how oblivious Ava was from his own experience with her. She wouldn't know about your feelings unless you told her directly, and you seemed to have no intention of even trying. Your only options now were the surgery and death. And Jake would be damned if you let die anytime soon. "Then I'll bring you to the hospital and they can take care of you and... if you decide what you want, you can let them know. Does that work?"
