From the minute Asch saw (Y/n), he felt a pull. There was no string of fate connecting them, not yet at least, but he could feel them. He felt how their energy reflected their emotions, he sensed when they were in pain, and knowing where it was all leading, he made an effort to be kinder to them. When the red string finally appeared between them, Asch looked to the human with an empty hope in his eyes. But (Y/n) didn't see it.

Asch later learned from Rhys that, while soulmates did exist on Earth, human did not have the ability to see the strings that tied them to their one and only. They were only able to let fate do its job and bring them together. It all seemed so helpless to the Daemos.

Rhys continued to advice his fellow knights from growing attached to the two humans they were living with. But he knew fully that he could not stop Asch from going after (Y/n). Especially knowing what was likely to become of Asch once they returned to their world. He allowed Asch to be happy for once.

One evening, Asch sat awake in his throne room, lost in thought, up until he felt something heavy. Not physically, no, but it was the pull he had been feeling for weeks, it was (Y/n)'s emotions. And at the moment, whatever was going on in their head was turbulent.

The prince stood up and went after them. It was always the same dance with the two: every time Asch sensed turmoil with (Y/n), he would go to them, pretend that he had stumbled upon them in such as state by accident, and calm them. More often than not, it ended with Asch leaving a sleeping (Y/n). He could only assume that this time would be no different.

But he walked out to find them tracing their fingers along the wall as the walked to the door. They were in their nightclothes, with the addition of a sweater wrapped around their waist. Their slightly tousled (h/l), (h/c) hair was a rather endearing sight, one that almost forced a smile on Asch's lips. But instead, he remained cold.

        "Where are you going, human?"

(Y/n) jumped at the voice, quickly turning on their heel to face the Daemos prince. "Oh, A-Asch..." Even in the darkness of the room, he caught their face tint pink. They shyly rubbed the back of their neck. "I, uh, didn't realize you were still awake..."

Asch took another step towards the human, tone remaining stern. "Where. Are. You. Going?"

The human sighed, stretching their arms out behind their back. "Outside." They stated, calmly. "It's a clear night and I was hoping I could try to see the stars from the roof of the building. It's nice..." Their voice trailed off, almost sadly, as if not much for them had been all that nice recently.

"Take me with you." It wasn't an ask, it was a demand, but the Daemos' intentions were good.

A small laugh left (Y/n)'s lips. "I'm guessing that I don't have a choice here... do I?" They whirled back around, motioning for Asch to follow them. "Just don't be too loud, I'm not technically supposed to be doing this and I don't need anyone getting on my back about it."

(Y/n) led him to the elevator, hitting the button at the top of the panel and stepping back. They glanced at Asch, trying to keep it discreet. "I'm honestly kind of glad that you're coming with me... I don't always thrive off of being alone." Their had subtly brushed over his, causing his entire body to tense up. "But... you're always there when I get like this, so I can't say I'm super surprised by it." Seeing his tense state, they moved to retract their hand.

But Asch pulled it closer, interlocking their fingers. He caught a glimpse of their shocked expression out of the corner of his eye, as well as their reddening face. (Y/n) shifted their head to look at him more, giving his hand a small squeeze. "I appreciate the help nonetheless..."

Before the prince could reply, the elevator doors opened and (Y/n), still holding his hand, led him down the hall and to the stairway. They dragged him up the staircase, to a door, and finally onto the roof of their apartment building.

The couple was immediately met with a sharp gust of wind that brushed by them, but it only seemed to make (Y/n) smile. They stepped away from the entrance and sat on the floor, leaning back on their arms to stare at the sky. Asch only stood by the door, curiously watching, trying to pull himself together, now feeling a change on their mood that he had never felt before. What was it?

(Y/n) looked back, shooting Asch an affectionate smile and patting the ground beside them. "What's the hold up?"

He took a breath, walking over and sitting down beside them, looking up at the glistening stars. Though there were few of them, he could understand why (Y/n) was drawn to them. Particularly when he snuck a few glances at them, subtly admiring the way the stars were reflected in their (e/c) orbs.

Their hand brushed over his again, not taking their eye off the dark sky. "Pretty, right?"

Asch's focus remained on them, his face flushing red. "Beautiful..."

(Y/n) leaned on Asch's shoulder, readjusting their position to link their arms. They pulled part of his cape onto their own shoulders, snuggling into his warmth. He questioned whether or not he should hold them close to him, seeing as no one was around to see it. He draped his arms over their shoulders, pulling them slightly closer.

They looked up at him, rendering their faces just inches apart. Asch panicked for a moment, actions like this having never occurred between them before... but all of the tension melted away when they quickly connected their lips, pulling away all too soon in the prince's opinion.

Asch was stunned, letting what felt like hours pass between them in silence. When his brain resumed focus, they were laying on his shoulder again, sleeping soundly. Asch removed his cape, fully, draping it over their shoulders before he scooped them up into his arms and walked them back to the apartment.

However, when he set them down on their bed, ready to leave as per usual, he felt something softly tug at his shirt. He looked back, his onyx orbs meeting (Y/n)'s tired eyes.

"Stay..." They whispered, tugging at his shirt again. This time, the prince didn't even try to contain his smile as he laid on the bed beside them. Their arms quickly wrapped around his waist and the snuggled into his chest, contentedly. "'Night, Love..."

Asch's face flushed impossibly red, unbeknownst to the human, but he hugged their body close to his. "Good night, Pet..."
