"Ugh..." My eyes slowly flickered open and I raised a hand to my throbbing head. My limbs were shaky; I was sitting down and I still felt as though I couldn't hold myself up. I leaned back on the wall behind me, shuddering at the cool feeling of the surface through the thin fabric of my shirt. I tried desperately to scan the room for an exit, another person, anything, but it was too dark. My inky, lightless surroundings looked like they could go on forever. Where am I?
I pressed back against the wall behind me, shakily lifting myself to my feet. As I got higher on the wall, I began to feel ornate engravings in the surface, not unlike the ones in the boys' wall palace. So, I'm somewhere in the palace... but why? My eyes scanned around in the dark for a sign, like the familiar glow of the Daemos boys' horns, but I couldn't see any. That thought sent the most alarm to me, as the boys were usually all over me. Maybe they just left me alone and hid me so I couldn't hold them back... I already felt undoubtedly vulnerable on my own, so that thought brought bitter tears to my eyes.
"H-Hello...?" I asked softly, into the darkness, only to be met by silence. And suddenly, I caved into myself and choked out a sob, burying my face in my arms and legs. "D-Don't leave me..."
I jumped when I felt a warm hand touch my arm and I looked up to find a pair of glowing green eyes staring down at me. "You promised not to leave me, so I'm never going anywhere, sweetheart..." A familiar voice comforted me. I knew that voice anywhere.
"L-Leif!" I reached out to him, to pull him into me, to hold him as I dried my tears. "I-I thought you all j-just left me here...!"
Leif doesn't seem hesitant in the slightest to hug me back and he let me bury my face in his neck. "Hey, hey, calm down..." He whispered into my ear while rubbing small circles on my back. "You're safe with me, it's okay..."
I trusted him without question, and it took me another minute or so to pull away. "Wh-Where am I?" I asked, still clinging onto him. My knuckles were white from the harshness of my grip on his collar and my other hand held his face, his skin warming my cold fingertips.
"You're in my room, in the palace..." Leif answered, softly. "I'm gonna keep you here for awhile."
I saw him wince as my body went tense at his words. "Wh-Why...?" I asked, cautiously, shifting my gaze to look up at him.
His blue eyes softened, but still bored into mine with an almost overwhelming intensity. My face burned at the sight, but I couldn't look away. "Because the others were going to hurt you and I couldn't let that happen..."
I tilted my head. "H-Hurt me...?"
"We were only using you..." He admitted, regret apparent in his tone. "Daemos isn't really being attacked by a monster, but we've been in a magic crisis. Daemos get their magic from humans and we thought if we could get humans from E-urth, we could save our home." He placed one hand over mine, the one of his cheek. "They would've killed you if it weren't for me!" He said, leaning in closer. "I couldn't let them take you from me... I love you..."
I didn't have a chance to respond before his lips pressed against mine, roughly. I gasped into the kiss and tears from his news about the others dripped down my cheeks. His hands lifted to my face and he wiped my tears away with his thumbs. He pulled back, remaining close and pressing his forehead to mine. "Shshsh, don't cry... I'm sorry I had to tell you that, but I..." His eyes watered. "I couldn't let them take you away from me..."
My arms gently wrapped around his neck and I gave a small nod. "Th-Thank you..." I whispered to him. "Thank you, Leif..."
Leif's eyes met yours once again and they were filled with longing and pain. "D-Do you love me too...? Say it..."
My face reddened again, but I leaned back to peck his nose. "I love you too..." I said, lost in the heat of the moment. "I love you too, I love you..."
Leif smiled, removing his hands from my flushed cheeks and setting one against the wall behind me, effectively pinning me in place. He leaned into me again, kissing me more gently this time, but with equal passion. I hummed against his lips, kissing back, melting into his touch and leaning back against the wall. But that calm feeling quickly dissipated when I felt a sharp pain in my left arm.
I quickly broke the kiss and looked to the left, to see one of Leif's two scythes scraping against my arm. I turned away, horrified, and opened my mouth to scream for help and in pain. Before any sound could leave me, Leif covered my mouth, forcing my head back against the wall. "Shh... remember what the others would do to you?" He reminded me. "Let me so this... they can't touch you if you're mine~" He purred. Then his face contorted into a much more sinister one. "They wouldn't dare..."
I let out a whimper against his palm and closed my eyes as tightly as I can manage, the pain in my arm growing as he continued to cut into me. Tears spilled over my eyes and I let out quiet sobs into his hand. Eventually, the initial sear of the pain subsided and I was left with a sharp stinging sensation. Leif pulled back and sat down in front of me as if nothing had happened. "What do you think?"
My eyes flickered open again and I looked down at my arm. Leif's name was sloppily carved into my soft skin, along with a jagged heart. I gaped at the sight and looked away. "L-Leif... H-How could you do this?" I asked, looking at the male in horror. "Y-You said you'd protect me and make sure the others wouldn't hurt me, then you turn around and do this?!"
I was seething with rage, but that quickly morphed into fear as Leif's palm made contact with my neck and forced me back into the wall as if I were nothing. "Hey, I'm keeping you safe!" He growled. "I already told you that I'm keeping the others away so they don't hurt you, because they wouldn't dare even touching what's mine!" He said, coldly. His other hand held my face, pressing so hard against my jaw that I thought it may bruise. "You are mine now..."
I couldn't give so much as a reaction before the world around me turned back to darkness and my consciousness faded away. Little did I know, Leif was on his feet again, his scythes dripping with my blood, soon to be followed by the blood of his fellow Daemos. He was ready to take all the necessary precautions to keeping me "safe" by his own definition. And I was completely helpless...
