There were certain aspects about you that the boys didn't quite understand. Ava seemed to be awfully protective of you and you seemed to cling onto her just as much. They couldn't quite understand why that was; Daemos typically did as they pleased unless they were in debt to someone else, and even then sometimes they wouldn't comply. So one day while you were running errands, they asked the human girl about your odd behavior and the foreign relationship you two seemed to share.
Ava hummed. "Well... in a way, they kind of are in debt to me..." She muttered.
Rhys held a hand to his chin and tilted his head at her. "How so?"
"Ah..." Ava began, nervously. "It's kind of a long story, I don't talk about it much and it's really not that interesti-"
Asch cut her off, fire in his eyes. "I demand you tell us immediately, prisoner!"
Ava huffed, blowing some of her long hair out of her face. "Okay, okay, geez..." She looked down at her hands. "It started a long time ago when we were in high school... I was really antisocial and cold and (Y/n)..." She smiled slightly, recalling the memory of you. "Was... sparkling. Everyone liked them, they were kind and friendly and smart..." She twiddled her thumbs, awkwardly. "So many people had crushes on them..."
"What's a crush??" Noi asked, leaning over Leif and Asch's shoulders, much to their annoyance.
"It's like... when you like someone, romantically, but you haven't told them yet... I guess?" Ava offered.
Rhys nodded. "I see... so (Y/n) had many admirers..."
Noi's eyes sparkled at the thought of someone without a royal status being so popular and loved. "Wooooooooow...!"
"How'd she end up with you, then?" Leif asked.
Asch rolled his eyes. "Because Ava is a Princess, obviously!"
Ava glared at the Daemos. "Would you all just shut up and let me tell the story?!" The others quieted, albeit reluctantly. "Thank you... Anyways, we were in high school and a lot of people liked (Y/n)..."
Ava peered around the corner, watching as you walked and talked with a friend. She sighed, dreamily, at the sight of you; Your (h/l), (h/c) hair bounced with every step you took, your (e/c) orbs sparkled as your friend spoke to you, and the sweet sound of your laughter rung out like a bell. It seemed that everything about you was so... perfect.
You shared a few classes with the girl, so as you and your friend walked by, you waved at her. "'Morning, Ava!" You hummed, sweetly, before continuing on your walk to class.
Ava swore her heart stopped and her legs almost gave out beneath her. "Th-They know my name..."
And so, the school year continued with Ava noticing you around and always almost swooning at the mere sight of you. But, by taking notice of you, she also began to take notice of everyone you spoke to: Boys who would flirt with you or girls who would always want your attention, underclassmen who looked up to you with stars in their eyes and even other upperclassmen who wanted you to be theirs before they went off to college. It sickened Ava and one day it became too much, she couldn't take it anymore!
And so, she made elaborate plans to get rid of her competition through any means necessary, be it befriending, matchmaking, expulsion, convincing you to reject them, or even murder. She was ruthless for your love, she couldn't bare to have anyone intruding on what she hoped would be a future relation between the two of you.
One of Lorelei's friends, Kristen, seemed to be smitten with you, so Ava set her up with another friend named Orin. A boy from your class had a really solid relationship with you, but Ava destroyed his reputation and he was expelled; He had still tried to confess to you later on, but you said that you wouldn't be willing to date someone who seemed like such a bad person. Ava let herself become uncharacteristically manipulative, and that cruelness within her isn't even counting all of the blood she had on her hands from those she couldn't get rid of peacefully. She had never fully gotten used to killing, but she did what she thought she had to...
By the end of the school year, Ava asked to meet you on the rooftop at the end of the say and you agreed. She was already a blushing mess by the time you showed up, but she still managed to stutter out an adorable confession that melted your heart. But your reaction was... not what she was hoping for at first.
"Ava... I really like you too, but... I don't think I can go through with this..."
The smaller girl's face fell. "Wh-Why not...?"
You looked down and rubbed the back of your neck. "I-It's nothing personal, really, it's just..." Your frown grew and the sight made Ava want to cry. "A lot of people I cared about have either been leaving or going missing recently... C-Call it egotistical, but I feel like I have something to do with it and I just feel kind of... cursed?" You covered your face. "I-I'm sorry, that sounds dumb-"
Ava quickly shook her head. "No, n-no, it doesn't, I-I understand...!" She exclaimed. "But... I don't really care about that, y'know? I-I just want to be with you f-for any amount of time..." She smiled, shyly, pressing the tips of her index fingers together. "I-I love you, (Y/n)..."
"L-Love me...?" You looked dumbfounded at those words, and your eyes began to water. "Aww, Ava!" You pulled her into a hug, and her body immediately tensed at the contact. But, since it was your she melted into your embrace and smiled. She wasn't proud of the things she had done to get there, but she had all the time in the world to make up for it... and now she had you by her side, so how could she lose?
"So yeah, that's the story..." Ava finished, looking down. "I'm not proud of it, really, but... I feel like the payoff was pretty worth it." She casually took a sip of her coffee while the boys stared at her in horror.
"Who knew humans could be so... v-vicious...?" Rhys stuttered out.
Pierce gave a small hesitant nod. "Y-Yes..."
Ava looked at them. "That's right! So don't mess with me and (Y/n) or I'll go Yandere on your asses!" She said, with a playfulness in her tone.
"That'll be the day!" You chimed in, carrying their groceries to the kitchen. At the mere sight of you, all five boys fled the room in a panic and you furrowed your brows. "W-Was it something I said...?"
Ava shook her head and went over to help and hug you. "Nah, just being weird... demon things..."
You giggled, leaning down to peck her head. "So, were you protecting me from their 'weird demon things?'"
"Of course!" Ava chirped. "That's what I'm here for, right?"
You pet her head and smiled. "Aww, you're too good to me, A... I love you."
Ava snuggled into you, happily. "I love you too..."
