"How did I know you'd be here?" Their voice almost made me jump, but I maintained my composure, eyes remaining closed, body remaining steady. They sighed when I didn't answer, speaking again. "General... are you all right? You're meditating again. I-It's not a bad thing, really, but... it worries me."
I turned around in my seat to face (Y/n), taking in all of their features as if it were the first time I was seeing them. It seems I can never grow used to or out of the feelings they evoke in me.
One look at their (h/l), silky (h/c) hair, their (e/c) orbs, their clear, un-scarred (s/t) skin, their smooth (f/c) horns, was enough to destroy my focus in seconds. I thought it was magic at first, but I quickly learned that they possessed the element of water rather than some kind of mind altering powers.
So... what had me so entranced by them?
"I'm just thinking." I answered them, quietly. They stepped closer, sitting on the dark stone bench beside me, taking in the sight of the rarely visited royal gardens. All of the flora, colored with bright and dark blues and purples and greens, was overgrown. The sky above was dark, dotted with glistening stars that reflected like gems in (Y/n)'s eyes.
It was wrong of me to think of them in such a way, as they were my advisor and had been since before I was Prince Rhal's guard. They were one of few who spoke to me as an individual rather than the feared general that I had become. They were kinder than other Daemos as well, frequently checking up on my wellbeing rather than my battle strategies.
Everything about them made my heart race to a point where I struggled to keep my composure. I tried to resist the rush of blood to my face as their hand brushed mine in soothing manner. This feeling couldn't be... love, could it? The idea sounded so foreign, Daemos did not typically feel love. But, even the strongest of Daemos aren't immune to their emotions.
"General?" (Y/n)'s voice rang out again, like a bell.
I looked away from them, closing my eyes once again. "Pierce." I corrected. "You may call me by my name."
Their hand tensed over mine. "I-I couldn't possibly-"
"Please." I interrupted them. "I've always considered you a friend, (Y/n)."
"A-And I you, but... wouldn't other knights just correct me? Assume that I was doing wrong?"
I shook my head. "I would defend you."
I felt their hand abruptly leave mine. My eyes flickered open and I looked to them, now staring at their hands folded in their lap, a scarlet hue staining their cheeks. I reached over, lifting their chin in my hand and making them face me.
Their soft (e/c) eyes stared back at me, filled with wonder and confusion. I slowly leaned closer to them, watching as their eyes in turn flickered shut and they leaned into me as well.
Our lips were just inches apart when-
"General Pierce?" I heard Noi calling me from outside of the gardens.
(Y/n)'s eyes shot open and they stared at me with an almost sad expression. "Another time then?" They asked, letting out a short laugh, implying that they were joking.
I leaned in again, placing a caress to their lips, albeit one that would not last long enough. I got to my feet, examining their flustered state. "Another time." I confirmed with a nod.
And with those words, I left them to their thoughts in the vacant palace gardens.
