"You're back again, killer?" The words rolled off your tongue, smoothly, visibly catching Leif by surprise as he finished stepping onto your balcony. This was far from your first meeting, and as his nighttime visits became more frequent, the more you began to expect him. It was an unlikely romance, almost Romeo and Juliet like. Just... more passionate.

It had all started after your coronation as monarch of your kingdom, one of the youngest rulers by far on Daemos. You were raised to be a ruler from a young age by your parents, taking their place after their inevitable exile, and skillfully ending the feuds between neighboring kingdoms, unintentionally making those kingdoms appear weaker. Because of that, Leif was hired to off you...

Piece by piece, you removed your armor for the night. You slipped the silver ring around your (f/c) horn off with ease, setting it on your nightstand. You stretched you arms and back until you heard a satisfying pop, then proceeded to lay yourself out in bed, waiting for sleep to overcome you. But it never did. And you'd thank the gods for that every day after.

Just outside of your balcony, you heard the rustling of leaves and two soft, barely audible footsteps. Your eyes flickered open to find that there was another Daemos standing in your balcony. He had ridged green horns and bright white hair, pretty cyan eyes that burned into you soul when he noticed you staring at him. You were more than smart enough to analyze the situation and you were bold enough to confront him.

        "You're an assassin."

       He nodded. "I am."

        "You're going to kill me..."

        "That's the plan."

        You hesitated. "Why?"

And oh, was there something about your saddened voice that hit him hard in something he never knew he had: his heart. Before the two of you knew it, day broke and you realized that you had just spent the night talking, talking like he was an old friend that you hadn't seen in years. Talking like you had known him all along.

Before you, Leif had hardly realized that he was lonely. All he had ever know was how to care for himself, to hold his own. But suddenly, he wanted to be holding you. He knew it had to be love, it was too deep to be lust. It was a feeling of attachment that he'd never experienced before... and he'd be damned if he was going to throw it away!

The feeling was completely mutual, as the assassin managed to make your heart melt effortlessly, yet his words were the most sincere you'd ever heard. No suitor that came to call could sway you: you'd play it up in public but when they got you alone, you'd declare that your heart belonged to someone else and that no one else would have you. You and Leif felt deeply to each other and this night was no different...

"Did you need something? A place to hide out for the night?" You bit your lip, seductively. "A distraction, perhaps...?"

"He smirked as he approached you, slowly. His eyes remained locked on yours, making you fall for him even more. "As tempting as that sounds..." He reached you and snagged your waist, pulling you flush against him. "...I had something else in mind."

"Oh?" You raises an eyebrow, lifting your hands to let them run over his shoulders and trail down his chest. "And what might that be, my love?"

He took a breath and leaned in towards you. Your soft lips were mere seconds away from his as he spoke. "Run away with me..."

Before you could reply, he pressed against you, stealing your lips in a passionate caress. His hands roamed your body, hovering over your waist before slipping down to you thighs and back again. You arms wrapped around his neck and your fingers tangled in his hair, dangerously close to his horns.

You had always felt guilty in the past. Leif dedicated himself to you and you alone. But you were a royal. Your advisors dragged you out to meet princes and kings from other places, hoping that someone would catch you eye, that you'd marry and give your kingdom a future. But you resented that. You didn't want a prince or a king or some stuck-up noble. You wanted Leif. And that night, you would finally commit.

As you broke the caress, you saw his eyes stare at you with an intense longing, awaiting an answer from you. You only have him a nod, pecking his lips again, before you went to equip yourself to escape your kingdom with your love at your side.

"Do you trust me?" Leif stood up on the edge of your balcony, holding out his hand to you.

You took it, smiling wholeheartedly. "Of course..."

He took another breath, pulling you against him and dropping off the edge with you in his arms. It took almost everything you had not to scream and alert someone inside of your position, but you were rather high off the ground.

Your panic didn't last long, as Leif swiftly caught a tree branch, keeping your body pressed against his. You two hung there, panting from the adrenaline, but undeniably happy.

He pulled you both up to sit on the branch of the tree. His back rested against the trunk of the tree and he pulled you to rest you back against him. You leaned into his warmth, contentedly, while he rested his chin on your shoulder, green horns brushing against your face. "Finally..."
