Zarina lay on the snow-covered roof starring up at the night sky. The stars shimmered in the black skies, and she could hear no sounds except for her own steadied heartbeat. With every breath the air misted due to the cold.
She had finished her pastry ages ago and was growing bored. But she smiled.
She liked knowing that the King would be searching around in the palace for her, probably growing more and more impatient. She'd go down eventually and deal with his wrath, but for now, the cold air, and the night sky was what she wanted.
From up here she could see all the constellations, and wished she could fly and trace her hand over the magical balls of light.
She heard a noise next to her that caused her to prop herself up from the snow and see what was coming.
She saw the King climb onto the roof, with a graceful pull and stand up. He wore his usual royal attire, the seams stitched with beautiful gold string. His pale eyes seemed to shine in the night sky as the gold flickered.
"I'm not sure this is allowed." He said arching his eyebrow and crossing his arms.
"It's still technically the Palace." She said laying back down on the roof and looking up at the stars.
She pursed her lips in annoyance. How did he find her this fast? She had been quiet, and left no trail. It had only been two hours, and yet here he was. She wanted it to go on for at least another four. Make him Miss the entire celebration going on downstairs.
"Well, let's go." He ordered with an annoyed tone.
She smiled; she had frustrated him a bit at least. She slowly got up from her laying position and balanced herself as she walked over to the King.
He was tracing her up and down her dress, she looked down to see it was drenched due to snow, and it looked like she had been rolling around in the dirt.
"Oh well." She said with a shrug as she pushed past the king.
"You cannot go back like that." He said with an anxious tone as he began rubbing his forehead.
She turned to face him, "Why not?"
"People may get the wrong idea." He said shaking his head and looking up at the stars. She could not tell if his face was filled with pure annoyance, but her held a slight smirk. As if amused by her wildly manors.
She began climbing down the roof. "I do not really care what people think of me." She stated. They would judge her anyway.
He followed after her until they reached the balcony that she had climbed through. It was her room, she had used her own room to climb to the roof, maybe that is how he found her.
"I cannot have people thinking I've been rolling around in the snow with you" He answered with an annoyed huff.
"I cannot have people thinking I've chosen..." His voice trailed off. They couldn't think he had chosen her, that they were doing other things together.
She turned to look up at the king, his pale-golden eyes looked at her with a serious toned glare.
"I'll get dressed then." She said moving towards her cupboard and pulling out a dress that was similar to the one she had on. Hopefully no one would notice the minor details in lace.
She began untying the back of the dress and felt the King Tense behind her. "Turn." She ordered in a stern voice.
She looked over her shoulder to see him slowly turning to face away from her. He could also just leave. Maybe he feared she would run off and hide again.
