Friday Evening
"Are you ready for this?"
"Yes."
Cassidy and Summer stepped into their school's gymnasium which had been turned into a giant ballroom. It had a large disco ball hanging from the ceiling. It was colorful and sparkly. The room had shining lights everywhere.
"OMG! This is so awesome!" Cassidy squealed.
"I know right," Summer agreed.
"Sum, look, it's Brett." Cassidy started jumping up and down.
"Hey, Brett!" Summer yelled, then she ran away.
Brett thought that Cassidy said it, so he walked towards her. Summer giggled. "Summer!" Cassidy shouted.
"Hey," Brett said.
"Hi," Cassidy said very nervously while playing with her hair.
Summer walked over to the food table. More people were starting to arrive and the party was getting started.
"Woot! Woot! Let the party begin!" Madame Zeroni shouted. "Woot! Woot!"
Summer shook her head.
She went to grab a cupcake, but a sharp toothpick was sticking out and pricked her. "Ouch." Summer's finger started bleeding. "Oh my goodness. Ah! Ah! Ah! Cassie, save my life!" Summer ran to Cassie, grabbed her arm, and pulled her away from her one true love.
"Gosh, Summer. I was talking to Brett. Hello?!" Cassidy put her hands on her hips and shook her hips from side to side.
"So you care more about Brett, than your bestie best bestest friend ever?" Summer said. Then she started waving her arms in the air wiggling her butt.
"Yes," Cassidy said. "JK! What's up?"
"I cut myself. I have band-aids in my locker. Can you come with me? Please."
"Fine."
When they arrived on the 2nd floor, they could hear the distinct banging of a locker door.
"What was that?" Cassidy was frightened.
"Stupid locker, nothing can ever fit!"
"That sounds like Cole," Summer said.
"Ugh!" *Bang*
Summer ran towards him, about to say something, but then papers flew out from Cole's locker and landed everywhere on the floor.
"Stupid!" Cole screamed. He started picking them up. A lot of his papers were sketches or doodles.
"Umm.... do you need help?" Summer asked. Cole didn't answer, so she picked up the papers for him. Summer noticed a certain doodle. It had C+S written in a pink heart.
Before Summer could say anything, Cassidy said, "Whoa! What is that?"
"Who's there?!" Cole shouted. He jumped when he closed his locker to see Summer and Cassidy standing there, staring at him awkwardly. "What do you want?"
"Hey, Cole. What's up?" Summer said.
"I told you so!" Cassidy yelled.
Summer nudged her bestie in the ribs.
"What's that, Cole?" Cassidy grabbed the sheet of paper that had C+S in a heart on it and handed it to Cole. Cassidy looked accomplished.
"Nothing." Cole immediately stuffed it in his locker.
"You're shipping people, Cole. Someone with the starting letter C and someone with the starting letter S. Who are those people, Cole? Huh? Spill!" Summer said, raising her voice.
"Just someone from church, you wouldn't know who," he said
"I would know, tell me, Cole." Summer began to grow impatient.
"Did I say church? I meant... School! Yeah... Teachers... At school. Yeah," Cole said, doing improv.
"I think I know who," Cassidy said, enjoying this.
"You do?! The teachers... I mean... Teacher, School. Mr. and Mrs. I mean Miss and Mister. Miss? Mister? Misses? Teachers?" Cole's sentences were getting jumbled.
"Spill, Cole! Who is it?!" Summer blasted.
"Umm... Just ask Cassidy. She said she knows," Cole said.
"Oh, I thought I did, but now I don't know." Cassidy stared at Cole in a sassy way. Cassidy wanted to hear Cole say it.
"Umm... Mr. Shoten and Miss Cece!" Cole made up.
"Oh, you're weird. I don't think so. And why would you ship teachers?" Summer asked.
"Uhh... I gotta go change." Cole rushed off.
"Oh, I see, you're going to the dance?" Summer asked, surprised. But Cole had already jogged away.
"Yeah..." Cassidy said. "Wait. Isn't Mr. Shoten married..."
Since Cole had run off, Cassidy and Summer took a quick peek at his other doodles. Most were about Summer.
"This just got really interesting," Summer said.
"So, what do you think this means?" Cassidy asked, holding up the same doodle that they had noticed the first time.
