Friday at Lunch
"Yes, lunchtime!" Brett yelled.
"Finally," Cole agreed.
During lunch, Cassidy walked up to Cole. "Hey... Cole."
"Hey, what's up?"
"Hi, Cole!" some girls yelled.
"Um..." He turned to Cassidy. "Can we go somewhere else to talk?"
"Janitor's closet?"
"Great idea."
Cole and Cassidy snuck off to the janitor's closet while Brett met up with James and Antonio, Cole's other friends.
"So, what do you want to talk about?" Cole asked quietly.
"Umm... it's about Summer..." Cassidy said.
"Yes... about Summer? What about her?"
"What happened this morning?"
"Well, I rode beside her car on my bike. She was in the car. And then her sister was talking to her and then she said that she thought nothing of me."
"She didn't mean it."
"Well, I'm still sad, and a little angry at her."
"Cole. She didn't mean it. You know how little sisters are. Amber was teasing her, so then she couldn't say that she liked you." Cassidy suddenly covered her mouth. "Forget I said the last part."
"Really, she likes me?" Cole said, looking embarrassed.
"Pretend I never said that. You should talk to her."
"I'll tell Summer you said that," Cole said teasingly.
"Cole! Summer will kill me. At least you like her back, right?"
"Sure?"
"Wait, you don't?"
"Yes, but you can't tell her, ok?"
"Ok, I won't." Cassidy smiled. "If you don't tell her that I told you that she likes you, then I won't tell her that you like her."
"Ok."
"Deal." Cassidy put her hand out.
"Deal." But he kept his hand to himself.
"So, wanna get lunch?"
"Ok," Cole agreed
Then, Summer burst into the janitor's closet. "Cassie, there you are. I've been looking everywhere for-" Summer saw Cole. "What is going on here?"
"Nothing," Cole said softly.
"Cassie?!" Summer's face turned red with anger.
"It's not what it looks like!" Cassidy said, trying to defend herself.
"Really?! I think it's pretty clear to me." Summer was fuming.
"What did you think we were doing?"
"I don't know!" Summer screamed.
"Hey!" came a strange, deep voice.
"What was that?" Cassidy said fearfully.
"Me." Then, from behind the large trash can, was the janitor, Janitor Fred.
"OMG! You almost killed us, Janitor Fred!" Summer screamed.
Cole looked as though he was scared of Summer.
Cassidy almost fainted.
"Did you hear everything we said?" Cole asked.
"Yes. This is my closet, I hear what I want," Fred said.
"This is creepy," Summer said. "Fred, were they doing anything suspicious?"
"Yes." Fred told them all about what they were talking about.
Summer was shocked. Cole liked her and she liked Cole. "Ohh... I'm sorry, Cassie," Summer said. "I remember now. I told you to talk to Cole. I forgot. I'm sorry."
"That's all right," Cassidy said.
"I'm gonna go..." Cole said as he began to exit the janitor's closet.
"Bye, Cole." Summer blushed.
Cole waved as he blushed too.
