Wednesday

Summer wandered over to Lexi's locker as soon as she arrived at school, ignoring Cassidy's glare.

"Hey, girl," Lexi said.

"What's up?" Summer slumped against the lockers.

"Nothing much." Lexi continued grabbing notebooks and throwing them in her locker. "Oh, I was thinking, maybe today, do you wanna go to the mall after school? I might go with Bianca and Starling."

"Starling?"

"Yea, she's my friend. She wasn't at lunch yesterday because she had a club."

"Oh... Well, yea, I'd love to go!" Summer exclaimed.

"OMG, great!" Lexi jumped up in the air and wiggled her butt.

Summer and Lexi linked arms and skipped to class.

"Bye, Sum," Lexi giggled.

"See you, Lex," Summer replied.

Summer ran to homeroom to see Cassidy giggling with a random group of girls from their homeroom that they had never so much as glanced at before. Clearly, Cassidy was just trying to talk to someone else to avoid talking to Summer or sitting lonely by herself.

Summer saw a girl with light blond hair in the corner of the room painting her nails, away from the chaotic mess going on near her. Summer toddled over to the girl, hoping to strike a conversation with her so Summer wouldn't need to sit by herself for the whole class period. "Hey... is there anyone sitting here?" Summer pointed to the empty spot next to the girl.

"Oh, no, you can sit here," the girl said. "I was gonna sit with my friends, but they're being a bit loud, LOL"

"Yeah, haha," Summer laughed.

"I'm Starling, by the way," she said. "What about you?"

"Ohhh! You're Starling!" Summer said excitedly.

"Uhh... Yes?"

"Oh, sorry. It's just that- I met your friend yesterday, Lexi. I sat with her and her friends at lunch, maybe you weren't there. Well, anyways, we sorta became friends cuz like I don't know, I guess we just get along. Maybe, we are made for each other. And basically, she asked me if I wanted to go to the mall this morning. And she was like, Bianca and Starling might come. And I was all like, 'Who's Starling?' because I've never actually heard of you before. Soops sorry BTW, but yea I guess we just never crossed paths. And so she told me that you were her friend, and then I knew who you were and now we're here. Like, OMG we are in the same homeroom?! Like that's crazy, totally crazy! How did I never notice you? I guess I only talked to Cassie and Ms. Landercord never made as interact and-"

"Thank you, very much for that explanation," Starling said. "I was just a bit confused, but I didn't really need all that..,"

"Oops, sorry. I can get a little carried away sometimes. I just love talking though."

"No, It's okay. You're cool. Hmm... Did you say what your name was...?" Starling asked.

"Summer," Summer stated.

"Summer... nice to meet you, Summer." Starling put out her hand and Summer happily shook it.

Summer and her new buddy, Starling, were able to talk for the rest of homeroom before walking off to their next class. Before Summer arrived at the Intro to Algebra room, Bianca came up to her with a smirk painted across her face. "I heard you'll be coming with us to the mall today," Bianca said, staring at Summer.

"Yeah, Lexi invited me," Summer said.

"Well, that'll be nice. Just wondering, will Cole be coming..." Bianca raised her eyebrows.

"No? Why would he need to come?" Summer questioned.

"I was just wondering, goodness." Bianca rolled her eyes. "He's your boyfriend, isn't he?"

"Yes, but we don't need to do everything together... And I'm not exactly sure if we're talking at the moment. It's... complicated."

"Oh really... That's interesting..."

"Why do you care?"

"No reason." Bianca walked off to her own classroom, leaving Summer very confused.
