Monday

"OMGiezies!" Cassidy shouted.

"What up, Cassie," Summer said at the lockers.

"You guys are so cute!" Cassidy said, her eyes glued onto her tablet. Summer peeked over her shoulder.

"What is that?" Summer asked.

"You can't see?"

"It's blurry, Cassie."

"Whatevs," Cassie said. Then she laughed out loud so hard.

"Tell me! What is that?" Summer asked again.

"It is seriously not important!"

"Ok?"

"I had no idea that Cole was on a diet. That's crazy."

"Yea, it's really cool right. It's kind of a pain cuz he doesn't eat fun food but he's so committed. I mean, really! He does it for American Football. He needs to get fit and stuff. It's so awesome. He like, puts so much effort into a little thing. It makes me think that he will be very committed to our relationship. And it'll be great for getting a job and then he could support me if maybe, ya know, we ever lived together. I mean wouldn't that be great. And- wait... how did you know he was on a diet?" Summer suddenly started to get suspicious.

Cole had walked into the conversation when he heard Summer talking about him. But when Summer started getting suspicious, he ran back to Brett's locker. Cassidy lifted her head to look for help from Cole but he had already left.

"Well, he sorta shared the video with me," Cassidy said.

"He what?!"

Cole ran past Summer.

"Hey Summer, Bye Summer."

Summer attempted to grab him by his shirt but missed.

At lunch, Brett, Cassidy, and Cole were sitting and waiting for Summer to get her lunch.

"Why. Did. You. Have. To. Share. The. Video!" Summer yelled at Cole and pointed her finger at him.

"I was watching it before school and then she saw it and said that she wanted a copy of it. So I shared it with her," Cole said, scooching out of the way so Summer could sit down. Summer punched Cole hard in the stomach.

"Ow," Cole said as he clutched his stomach and added a sharp inhale. Cassidy gasped. And Brett tightened his fist. On the table next to them, Bianca laughed.

"You deserved that!" Summer screamed at Cole.

He tried to hug her. But she was too angry and shoved him away. At the end of the fight, Cole got up and sat next to Cassidy.

"Hey, guys," Cassidy said, changing the subject. "I have a newly installed pool at our house."

"Cool, if I wanted to swim, I would go to your house," Cole said. And then covered his mouth. "Oops," he said, looking at Summer.

Summer just gave him the dirty look.

Cassie tried to help them make up... but it only ended miserably.

It was after History, Summer and Cole were still scowling at each other.

"You guys have got to stop being mad," Cassidy said to Summer after class. "It makes everyone else in a bad mood. Even Miss Cece noticed you kept on looking at the Geography room where Cole was and looking all mad. You're all in a steamy mess."

"Ugh..." Summer grunted.

"You have to chill. Why are you even so mad anyway?" Cassidy asked.

"Cole sent a private video to someone else. How do I know that he won't respect my other stuff?!"

"So..."

"He was just like all whatever. He thinks I'm overreacting." Summer used air quotation marks for overreacting.

"Well, you sorta are. He's just trying to be nice and hugging you when you get mad, but all you do is shove him away," Cassidy said it like it was obvious.

"Cassie! He shouldn't be mad at me. I should be! He! Should! Apologize!" Summer shouted.

"Shh...!" said all the middle school students in the hallway.

"Sorry for the noise. My friend is crazy," Cassidy said as she passed the students.

Cole rolled his eyes and glared at Summer. Without hesitation, Summer glared right back. Cole poked his tongue out. Summer did the same. Cole kicked a trash can. Summer kicked some lockers. It ended with Cassidy and Summer sitting in the nurse's office and telling lies about how it happened, mostly blaming it on Cole. Nurse Megan didn't buy it.

"Seriously!" Summer yelled to Nurse Megan.

"Summer... You are fine. You can go to class now," Nurse Megan said.

"It hurts!" Summer screamed.

"Then at least let Cassidy go."

"Cole attacked her too!"

"Summer..."

"Fine. Bye, Cassie," Summer told her friend.

"So... Is Cole really that bad?" the nurse asked as she put some ointment on Summer's leg. Cassidy also left the office to go to Geography.

About 15 minutes later, Nurse Megan practically pushed Summer out of the nurse's room because she talked too much. Also, Summer was not in an enormous amount of pain.

"So, how was it? What took so long?" Cassidy whispered.

"Fine. I talk too much." Summer sat down and took out her notebook. "And... I just wasn't ready to face humanity."

"You know... Summer..." Cassidy began.

"What?" Summer asked.

"Nothing. It-it's not important."

"What? Tell me."

"Later."

After school, Cassidy and Summer walked out of the school together. They walked about 15 minutes to the small mall to go get some Krispy Kreme Donuts.

"So... tell me now!" Summer demanded.

"I feel. I-I-I feel... like a loser," Cassidy exclaimed. She burst into tears. Or rather fake tears.

"Yeah right. I don't think that was what you wanted to tell me." Summer rolled her eyes.

"Fine, I failed my test. I'm such a loser!"

"Ugh, Cassie, stop avoiding it."

"Well, I feel like we aren't spending enough time together."

"What the heck? You're just jealous, Cassie."

"No. Legit."

"You're jelly of Cole."

"I'm not jelly. Why would you think I'm a squishy blob."

"Cuz. You! Stop avoiding."

"It's like... all you think about is Cole. How he hurts you. How he doesn't. How you just overreact to every little thing that happens between you guys. It's like a break-up-and-make-up situation. It's honestly stupid. Really, really dumb. You might be the loser right now. Honestly, Sum."

"You're jealous that I give him more attention? Cole's my boyfriend, I can't say no to him."

"Well, you're my best friend. You can't say no to me either!"

"I can have more than one relationship in my life!"

"This is what I'm talking about. Always sticking up for Cole and getting mad and overreacting. It's like I don't really know you."

"No, he sticks up for me," Summer pouted.

"Ugh. Whatever! Aren't you mad at him anyway? The point is, I want to spend more time with you. Just you and me. Like old times. I hate this life." Cassie got up from her chair and left the store. She came back quickly to grab the donuts, then ran away again.

"What do you wanna do about it then?" Summer yelled, but it was too late. Cassidy left.
