Monday After School

"Come on, Cassie, we're going to be late for the game!" Summer yelled down the hall.

"Wait a minute, I just need to stuff my swimming bag in my backpack."

"Cassie, I really don't want to miss it," Summer said in front of her friend's face.

"Jeez, stop getting in my face. It'll just take me a bit longer.

Summer groaned.

"Why do you wanna go so bad?"

"I dunno, to support the football team and stuff. Plus the cheerleaders will be there and they are always good. No reason specifically. Just wanna show team spirit."

"Sure... You just wanna go cuz Cole will be there. Ooo..." Cassidy teased.

"Cassie! Someone might hear us."

"There's no one around. Chill."

Cole looked from the field to the stands and saw Summer sitting there. "Oh no, I shouldn't have asked Summer to come, I'm gonna mess up in front of her," he thought.

Summer sighed to herself. Though Cassidy heard her. "He looks so great out there."

"I thought you don't like him anymore?" Cassidy raised her eyebrows.

Summer shrugged.

The game went well. The Crusaders started off good, but the Ravenwood Thunder Keepers soon beat them. Cole was trying to show off for Summer as the Quarterback.

I guess Cole did like Summer, but just a little. Or maybe a tiny bit more than a little. Summer also liked Cole, but only a tiny bit. She had a crush on him in sixth grade when she first came to RMS. She soon got over it when he became too cool for her. Sixth grade was when Cole really grew in his popularity. They both kind of liked each other, but neither of them knew it, until last Sunday, when Summer saw the picture Cole drew of her and Cole saw the way she looked at him when she applauded him.

"Sorry, Summer. I need to go now," Cassidy said after 30 minutes of watching the football game.

"Oh, ok. I'll keep watching for a bit. See you tomorrow."

"See ya." Cassidy left the field and got on the bus to go home.

After the game, Summer managed to have a short conversation with Cole.

He was walking off the field with his helmet under his arm, sweat dripping from his hair.

"Hey, good job out on the field today," Summer congratulated him.

"Hi." Cole turned around again and said, "Thanks for coming to the game and supporting us. I'm a bit sweaty, so maybe stick around and we could talk later after my shower."

"Hmm... ok? I guess. I mean, I don't have anything else to do today. Well, besides homework."

When Cole came out of the male changing rooms, it was already 6:00, but Summer was still there laughing at something on her phone.

"Hey... whatcha doin?" Cole asked Summer.

"There is this awesome hamster video. The hamster is trying to get the cheese, but he can't. Ha! Ha! Ha!" Summer laughed. She ended up rolling on the floor.

"Sure?" Cole rolled his eyes.

Phone in hand, Summer continued to watch the hamster video on the floor. She was rolling around, laughing, and snorting.

Some other football players walked by and started staring at them. "Cole, your girlfriend is so weird," one of the football players said.

"Yeah, your girlfriend is a floor kisser," another teased.

"She's not my girlfriend..." Cole told them.

Hearing this, Summer simmered down and stood up.

"What's going on?" Summer said, puzzled

"Umm... nothing. Those guys were just being annoying." Cole pointed at the football players.

"Cole's girlfriend is a floor kisser! Floor kisser! Floor kisser! Cole's girlfriend is a floor kisser!" they chanted.

"Cole, I'm your girlfriend?" Summer asked excitedly, jumping up and down.

"No!" Cole answered smacking his face.

Summer frowned.

"Wait, you wanna be?" Cole looked confused pointing from him to her. He thought that Summer thought nothing of him. "Wait, is this really happening," he thought.

"Umm..." Summer looked away from Cole so she wouldn't blush.

"Awkward..." a football player said. The football players all laughed, clutching their stomachs. Then they walked away, still laughing their heads off.

"Sorry, Summer, I gotta go," Cole said.

"That's ok. I need to go now too."

"Oh, ok. Bye," Cole said, turning around to go home.

"Um... Bye?" Summer mumbled feeling awkward.
