Saturday Afternoon
"You were expecting me, right?" Avery asked.
"Obvi!" Summer hugged her cousin. "You told me you were coming."
"Yet, again..." Cole yelled from the living room "She told you she was coming, and you did not tell me!?"
"I don't think Cole does, though," Summer told Avery.
"Cole?" Avery was confused.
"Oh... and he's sorry about the karaoke incident. No hard feelings, cuz."
"Okay, but... Cole? Who's, Cole?"
"What the heck?!" Cole yelled again. He waited for a few seconds but heard no response. Then he ran to the hallway where Summer was and saw Avery. Cole stared at Avery and Avery stared back.
"Cole!" Avery exclaimed. "I remember you! From... the karaoke night."
"Oh my gosh!" Summer jumped up and started shaking Avery. "I was just telling you! Now... please don't mention that night... Ever. Again."
"So, why are you here?" Cole asked Avery.
"Um. I should be asking. Why are you here? Eh?" Avery put her hands on her hips.
"I asked first." Cole wiggled his hips.
"This is practically my second home. Why are you here?"
"I'm sorta her boyfriend. If you haven't already noticed," Cole said, pointing over at Summer.
"Whatever, googly eyes." Avery rolled her eyes.
"Why am I called googly eyes?"
"Because you're in love with Summer," Avery teased and talked in a cute voice.
"What in the world!" Cole exclaimed. "Summer... save me from your cousin," Cole groaned.
"Avery. Just. Shut. Up!" Summer scolded her cousin. "Now, Cole is here to work on a French project. Understood!"
"Yes, boss," Avery said. "Bossy," Avery said under a cough.
Cole chuckled.
"Are you sure he's here only for the project?" Avery raised her eyebrows.
"And... to hang out," Summer said. "But... only a little bit. For today, we have a project to do!" Summer stuck her arm in the air pointing her finger up.
They all sat on the couch with Cole in the middle.
"Summer!" Mr. Zaayer bellowed from the study.
"My dad called for me, I should probs go see what he wants. Also, Cole, watch Avery for me."
"Good luck. You know why. It might be bad..." Cole winced for effect.
Summer bounded up the stairs. Avery was on the couch, lying down on her stomach. Cole walked over to where she was lying down and sat on her back.
"Dude, be sensible. What are you doing?" Avery flapped her arms.
"Watching you." Cole wiggled on Avery's back.
Summer slowly opened the door and sat down on the stool in front of her dad.
"Tell me, Summer, what is this?"
Summer was scared her dad had found the photos. "Please say he didn't find the photos. Please say he didn't find the photos. Please say he didn't find the photos. Please. Please," Summer kept repeating to herself in her head.
