Next Friday After School
"What are you doing this weekend?" Cassidy asked Summer as she rumbled through her locker.
"Oh... you know, Cassie. Normal weekend stuff." Summer rolled her eyes. "My mom might take Amber and me to watch Detective Clark. It sounds lame... but it's supposed to be good. Even Alexine has watched it."
"Hey," Cole said, as he walked by Summer's locker. "Meet me outside the school." He barely brushed past her.
"Ok?" Summer said. Then she continued talking to Cassidy. "So... have you seen that new product. It's all over the net. Something called WINTER. A chip that goes inside your wrist... with free wifi! And much more. Sounds a bit freaky. But, crazy enough... my uncle is thinking about getting it."
"My aunt already got it," Cassidy said. "Hey... you certainly like that beanie you got on," she commented, seeing the red beanie sitting on Summer's head.
"Yeah, my friend got it for me."
"It looks really cute on you... Anyways, see you on Monday."
"Thanks and bye." Summer walked out the school doors to find Cole standing in a corner. With a bunch of girls crowding around him.
"Cole! Cole! Did you see my Instagram post? Like it, Cole. Please, like it." "OMG! Cole! How do you look so cute!" "Cole! Follow me on Instagram!" "Cole, I just got Tik Tok so you can follow me. I look so cute in my vids!" "Marry me, Cole!"
"Get outta my way, grillies. There's someone I need to talk to."
"Cole! Cole! Who?" they chanted.
Cole ignored them and pushed past the crowd to find Summer pushing through the crowd too. "Hey, let's go somewhere else," Cole suggested. They walked down the street until the girls gave up on following them.
"So, what do you want to tell me," Summer said curiously. She looked at Cole.
"I mostly wanted to just talk and chat with you," Cole said.
"Oh. Okie." Summer smiled. "Any weekend plans?"
"Nope... not really."
"I'm watching a movie."
"Nice."
"Yea..." Summer whistled awkwardly.
"Hey... you're still wearing that beanie," Cole laughed.
"Yea. I like it."
"Oh... cuz you've been wearing that every single day for almost two weeks already."
"Is that a problem?" Summer began to get mad.
"Hmm..."
"Cuz if there is a problem... then it's your problem. Not. Mine. Ok? Cole, you even listening to me... because you better be listening to me. I have important things to say. I always listen to the important things you have to say. Always. Ok, Cole? Ok? KK? Alrightie'o? Gosh, Cole sometimes you are just so annoying and immature. Always thinking about yourself. And you also -"
"Me? Annoying and immature? Always thinking about myself? Sure," Cole said annoyed. He rolled his eyes and didn't make eye contact with Summer. "You're annoying. And immature. Who got you a present? Huh?"
"Yea... but when I wear all the things you get me... you're all like, OMG, Summer, why are you wearing that so much. Well, it is because I like it, Cole. Ok? Can you ever understand anything? OMG. You. Are. So. Frustrating! OMG! OMG! OMG!" Summer smacked her face. "And also you make me so -
"Good for you, don't need to keep ranting ok? I'm right here. I can hear you," Cole grumbled.
"Urg..." Summer fumed.
"We can break up if you want," he offered loudly.
"Oh... So you do..." Summer said harshly.
"I'm just kidding!" Cole raised his arms up in surrender. "I don't wanna end this. I like you. A lot. I'm sorry," Cole blurted out and hugged Summer. "I should've thanked you or something for wearing it all the time. It means you like it. I'm sorry."
"No. I'm sorry, Cole. I just, you know... got out of control. I'm sorry... but... I'm on my you-know-what... So maybe that's why."
"On your what? Oh, never mind...." He finally understood, a little.
"Yea... well, I gotta go. See you on Sunday."
"Bye, Sum."
