Sunday Evening

Even though Cole protested to his parents, the Zaayers were still coming over. As soon as they got home, his mom started cooking a huge meal for dinner.

Just then, Dan appeared in the doorway lugging his girlfriend's stuff, along with his own. "Aw, sweetie, welcome back!" Mrs. Pheonixson gave Dan a huge hug. "Kristen, so good to see you again," giving Dan's girlfriend a hug as well.

"Jenny, I've missed hanging out with this family," Kristen said.

"Dan, you've grown," Mr. Pheonixson said. "Urgh, you're way taller than me now."

Dan laughed.

"Dan!" Cole ran down the stairs and jumped up onto his brother's back.

"Hey, buddy!" Dan laughed. "Missed me?"

"Of course, what do you mean?" Cole said.

After the short reunion, the doorbell rang. It was the Zaayers. Everyone introduced themselves and chatted a bit, then Cole's mom called everyone to the table to eat.

During dinner, "Hey, Cole, you could maybe show Summer around the house," Mrs. Peonixson said.

After dinner, Cole gave Summer a tour of their house, with everyone else except Amber, who was glued to the TV screen. When they walked into the hall, Cole stopped for a moment before hastily walking past his bedroom door.

Just then his mom's voice came down the hallway and said, "Come on, Son, show her your bedroom, I'm sure she won't judge you."

"Nah, I don't mind," Summer replied.

"He can show you his sketches," Mrs. Peonixson responded.

Hearing that Summer was eager to look at Cole's bedroom, reluctantly, Cole opened the door to his bedroom and let Summer and everyone else walk in. There were sketches pinned everywhere in the room. Dan walked by and said, "He likes to draw his memories of people and stuff like that." Summer looked around the room and saw a picture that looked exactly like her.

"Is that me?" Summer asked curiously.

Cole blushed then paused and mumbled a short, "Ya, it's supposed to be..."

Summer blushed too.

They just stood there for a while not saying anything while others were in awe of Cole's talent for sketching.

"Come on, I'll show you the rest of the house," Cole said after a long pause.

"Sure," Summer said, her face all red.

After a while, it was time for the Zaayer family to leave. Everyone gave each other hugs. Before Summer left the house, she told Cole, "I liked your sketches."

"Thanks, I guess."

Summer smiled then exited the door and jumped in the car with her sister.

"Thanks for the ice cream!" Amber yelled through the open car window.

"No problem, Amber," Jennifer Pheonixson said. "You are welcome any time, Evelyn." Jennifer faced Mrs. Zaayer. "It's been so nice getting to know your family."

"Oh, Jennifer, thank you so much for dinner," Evelyn said. "The girls really enjoyed themselves. Next time we'll invite you guys over."

The two mothers smiled.

Once the Zaayer's car started up, they traveled back home.

"It wasn't as bad as I thought," Summer said to herself.

"It wasn't as bad as I thought," Cole said to his brother.

Dan laughed. "You had a great time, just admit it, little bro."
