Sunday
Summer was bursting with excitement when she woke up on Sunday. She was practically dancing on her bed. She set her alarm for 6:00 AM so she would have enough time to get ready. Summer really wanted to impress Cole by dressing up nicely.
Cole woke up to hear his alarm ringing. He quickly changed into his flannel shirt and long jeans, then walked to the bathroom. Sadly he walked in to see Kristen, doing her makeup.
"Exactly how long will it take you?" Cole asked politely.
"A while," Kristen said, not even looking away from the mirror.
"It is ok if I gel my hair in here too?"
"Sure."
It was challenging trying to get ready when Kristen was always leaning over him to get a makeup brush or something.
"Hey, Cole, can you pass me my mascara brush?" Kristen asked.
"Where is it?" Cole said, confused.
"In my makeup bag. The pink and blue one. Over there. In there somewhere."
"Oh, here." Cole passed Kristen's whole bag over so she wouldn't have to lean over him.
"I need my mascara. Cole, could you pass it to me?"
"Sure," Cole said. Annoyed, he got out a long thin tube. "This must be it," Cole thought. He handed the strange tube to Kristen.
"Cole, this is my eyeliner. So much different from mascara." Kristen shook her head.
"Hey, guys, what are you up to?" Dan asked as he walked into the bathroom.
"Cole doesn't really know how to identify makeup," Kristen told him.
"Here, I can help you, I'm way better at identifying makeup," Dan boasted to Kristen.
"Ok, can you pass me my mascara?" Kristen asked.
"Sure." He took the eyeliner from Cole's hand and gave it to Kristen.
"Oh my, Dan! This is eyeliner!" Kristen blasted.
Summer was brushing her hair in front of her vanity. Her Spotify playlist from her phone that was connected to her bluetooth speakers was playing. Music was blasting out of the speakers. BBIBBI by IU was playing. It was one of her most favorite songs. Her playlist titled "My Fabulous Favs" was a compilation of at least three hundred songs and there were more she added all the time. Out of all those songs, BBIBBI was definitely one of her favorites. Plus, IU was one of her favorite kpop solo artists. Every time that song played, Summer couldn't help but sing along.
Summer didn't notice how loud she was singing until Amber showed up.
"Yellow C-A-R-D! I seon neomeumyeon chimbeomiya beep! WOO!!!" Summer sang.
"Why are you singing so loud?!" Amber whined as she burst into Summer's room.
"This song is just SO awesome," Summer exaggerated.
"So you're being crazy again? Ahaha!" Amber teased.
When Cole's family got to church, the worship had already started, as they were late, again. Cole rushed down the stairs to the youth room. Summer was already there. She turned around to smile at him and then continued talking with Logan. Cole sat down next to Summer and tried to chime in to their conversation.
"Oh, hey, Cole. How was the dance?" Logan said, noticing that he had sat down next to Summer.
"Cool."
"Summer, did you go too?" Logan said, motioning to Summer.
"It was incredible!"
"Did you dance?" Logan asked looking at Cole and Summer.
"Yeah," Cole replied. Brett came up to Cole and they started talking.
"So, who did you dance with?" Logan asked.
"Don't tell everyone, Cole," Summer said quietly.
"What, did you say my name?" Cole said, turning around.
"Nah," Summer said casually.
"Wait, you danced with Cole?" Logan asked Summer as Cole turned to talk to Brett.
"Yeah, what's wrong with that?"
"Nothing." And Logan did not talk to Summer or Cole for the rest of the time.
"How was your weekend?" David asked the whole group when they had settled in. There were murmurs of "Great." "Awesome." "Homework." "Stressful." But David didn't notice the negative comments and the class began.
"What happened to Logan?" Cole asked when they were waiting for their moms to finish talking.
"Um... I sorta told her that I danced with you," Summer said, looking ashamed.
"What!" Cole said, in shock. "You shouldn't have told her that," Cole said, shaking his head in disappointment.
"Why not?"
"Cuz, she likes me..." Cole said slowly.
"Oh."
"Cole, Cole, look!" Amber said, rushing towards them and showing Cole her camera.
"Wow, what is that!" Cole said, staring awkwardly at the camera. "Summer, I never knew that you could sing that well," Cole said, jaw dropping.
"I don't even take choir," Summer said.
"Um... take a look at this," Cole said, laughing.
"Oh my. Amber!" Summer yelled, as her sister ran away. "I could strangle you right now!"
"You actually sound good though," Cole said, staring at her.
"Really?" Summer said in surprise.
"Yeah."
"Now you have to sing."
"Why?"
"Because you heard me sing."
"Um, no thank you," Cole said, turning around and crossing his arms.
"Come on!" Summer said and reached out to touch his shoulders.
"Summer, no is a no. Ok," Cole said as he turned around again.
"Maybe in private?" Summer suggested.
"Fine, but no recording," Cole said reluctantly. "But only if you come over tonight for dinner or something," he stated.
"Ok, I'll go ask your mom right now!" Summer said and ran off.
"No!" Cole yelled as he caught up with her. Cole wrapped his arms around Summer's waist so she couldn't run on. His grip was so strong that whatever Summer did to try to escape didn't work.
"Aww, they're hugging," Mrs. Pheonixson and Mrs. Zaayer said in unison when they saw what Cole was doing to Summer.
"Mom, we're not," Cole said letting go of Summer. Summer gasped for air.
"Oh my, you're strong Cole," Summer giggled. Cole just smiled at her. Suddenly, with a burst of speed, Summer raced off again. This time Cole couldn't catch up because his mom was standing only 2 feet away.
"Hi, Cole's mom," Summer said politely
"Oh, yes, Summer?" Mrs, Pheonixson said.
"Um... I just wanted to ask if you had any plans for tonight," Summer asked excitedly.
"Not that I know of."
"Can you guys come over to our place?"
"Sure, you should probably ask your mom first, though." Mrs. Pheonixson pointed over to Summer's mom.
"Yeah, I will, thanks!" Summer then looked over to Cole and smirked. She walked over and gave him a playful punch on the shoulder. Cole just stood there and winked playfully at her. They forgot about singing and both started laughing while clutching their stomachs.
