Thursday After School
Summer and Cassidy were at their lockers, packing their bags.
"Ready to go get dresses?" Cassidy asked Summer.
"You bet!" Summer couldn't wait to buy a beautiful dress.
Summer ran down the hall, but there was water on the ground and she didn't see the Caution: Wet Floor sign. Summer slipped and landed on her butt.
"Summer!" Cassidy ran towards Summer. "You ok?" Cassidy said between giggles.
Summer got up and rubbed her throbbing butt. "Ouch."
"Poor you." Cassie gave her bestie a hug.
"I smell like chlorine," Summer said.
"That was so random," Cassidy said. "But, that's what you get from swimming every day in stupid PE."
Summer groaned.
"Life is weird."
"Now that's random, Cassie."
The two friends walked to the carpark where Cassidy's mom was waiting in their car. The two eighth graders hopped in the car.
"Hey, mom," Cassidy said to Mrs. Foxter.
"Hi, girls. Mrs. Zaayer is going to meet us at the mall. Now... Who's ready to go shopping?" Mrs. Foxter asked, doing jazz hands and wiggling her head around.
"Mom, stop. Just, stop." Cassidy shook her head.
They zoomed off to the mall in the Foxter's shining sports car. When they arrived at the mall they went straight to Kenzie Kores Dresses, the best dress shop with affordable dresses. Then, Mrs. Zaayer appeared out of nowhere.
"Evelyn!" Mrs. Foxter gave Evelyn Zaayer a big hug.
"Madeline, so good to see you," Mrs. Zaayer said.
Cassidy rolled her eyes. "Why do grown-ups take so long to say, hi?"
"I know right," Summer agreed.
The mothers rumbled through the dresses hanging around. They shuffled through each one, until they found the perfect one for their beautiful daughters to try on. "You look like an angel!" or "So pretty!" or "Magnificent!" were the compliments the mothers gave their daughters.
Finally, they chose their dresses and paid.
Summer's dress was aqua blue in color with ruffles at the bottom. Cassidy's dress was teal in color and flowy.
"Sweetie, I'm so excited. This is your first dance," Mrs. Foxter said.
"Yes, mom. I know!" Cassidy said.
The group walked to the sports car and Mrs. Foxter dropped the Zaayers off at their house. Then the Foxters drove back to their own home.
