She drove like a maniac, careful of the rules but also in a hurry. She found an easy spot to park and thanked God for it. Slamming the brakes, she hurriedly moved out and locked the car.

All of this was in a hurry and Alia was not even sure if she had placed the car in neutral before turning it off.

But that did not matter anymore.

She moved inside the building pushing people out of her way that was standing in the corridor making her way to the reception.

"Pujita Ahuja? She was brought in an hour or so?!" Panic was clear in her tone. She had no idea what to do but meeting her mother was on the top of the list.

The nurse nodded her head understanding her panic and checked the computer only to shake her head no. "There is no one of that name in the hospital maybe she is on her way here, we have three ambulances out at the moment."

Alia raked a hand through her hair stuttering out the words in a hurry. "But I was called and t-they told me that she was brought in here so she should be h-here."

The nurse nodded sympathetically and a tiny bit of irritation was there in her eyes. "I understand ma'am, but she is not here if you want I can confirm that one of the ambulances.'

"Please Ma'am," Alia pleaded her. "Please yes."

The nurse nodded and took the handset, dialling a number she waited for the call to receive. "Yes, hello. Who are you carrying at the moment? A man.. alright." The nurse shook her head and Alia felt her heart crawl further up her throat. The nurse once again dial another number, "yes, you have patient..ah yes and how long would that be? Oh? Alright." The nurse and hung up. "Ma'am, they are almost five minutes away and I want you to sit down and be calm."

Turning away from Alia the nurse called in a ward boy. "Get the operation theatre ready. We have an emergency for a patient..blood Loss. Broken...damage.."

After hearing those words Alia lost her concentration and stumbled back a bit. She palmed her mouth as a cry was going to escape her, she didn't want to make a scene and appear to be deranged when she was supposed to take control of the situation.

Her worst nightmare was coming true. Her mother had been in an accident and Alia had no idea how she was. All she could do was thank the person for making the call to her.
She took her hair tie from her wrist and tied up her hair then she wiped all the traces of tears on her cheeks. She had to take control and make sure that everything was alright, that her mother was going to be fine.

She nodded to herself.

She moved towards the corridor that the nurse went to which was the entry to the emergency operation theatre. Nervously she stood there hugging herself praying to God that everything would turn out to be okay, that this was a little test that they had to pass as a family.

The ambulances came and so did the ward boys on with stretcher. Her mother was brought out all bloody and she could even make out her arm been out of its place. The bone was sticking out and poking the skin.

Alia felt like puking.

She didn't know what to do. The boys had picked her mother up from her legs and shoulders and transferred her to the stretcher with wheels and rolled her into the operation theatre all while Alia stood near the entrance looking at the bloodied body of her mother who was not conscious, far from it she was.

Bile rose in her throat and her mouth salivated. She immediately moved to the corner where a tree was and puked. The blood that her mother had, how her hand was crushed and how she laid on the stretcher unmoving with a mask of oxygen on her mouth.

Her throat burned as the liquid came out. Aliya coughed in the end having tears in her eyes and sniffing as she took out her handkerchief and wiped her mouth clean. There was a water cooler from which she hurriedly washed her mouth. Then she ran inside.

"Ma'am, please. Go one there." He showed her the direction of the waiting room.

It only made her panic more. "Si-sir please, there's my mother in there and I need to-"

The ward boy had shooed her away from the operation theatre and asked her to sit in the waiting area like everyone else. Had his mother died would he do so too? Nevertheless going to the waiting room was better than being kept out of the hospital.

She stood up for a while, pacing around the rooms. Frequently glancing at the clock that was on the wall where the minute hand was moving extremely slowly and the hour hand did not even bother moving.

She waited on the chair, knowing that her mother would come out fine and be on a long way of recovery that Alia and Shaan would be there to take care of her. She would come back home after a while.

The same nurse came out and looked in Alia's direction making her get up and make her way to the nurse.

"Is she Alright? I will-I get a that she is injured but she is going to be fine right?!" Alia was basically in hysterics when she spoke out the words. She was waiting for confirmation for hours. Her voice was barely clear over her cries.

"Ma'am," the nurse spoke in a low voice and Alia quietened down so much that she could listen to her heart beating in her throat. "I'm sorry but.. she didn't make it." The nurse whispered and touched Alia's shoulder.

Who knew that today was the day when Alia's entire world would shatter.
