"You choose a cafe to meet me instead of a good restaurant." Arman...
The catheter was removed by the nurse as it was failed. She then took a small blood sample of her brother as Alia watch.
Hopefully the blood sample would be out soon and they would know if the drug was in her brother's system or it had completely been flushed out by the body.
Alia's hand held the stone bracelet on her other wrist. It was her mother's. For today she needed her mothers support the most.
Arman was out talking to the doctor and his parents had just left because her brother was not awake yet. Alia had promised that she would call them immediately when he would wake up.
She sighed as she held his hand. How did life come to this point she had no idea.
"Didu?" Shaan croaked out after sometime when he had opened his eyes and see in his sister. He blinked his eyes frequently to make sure that she was sitting there. (Elder sister)
Alia a mini heart attack that moment. "Oh baba," she tightly held his hand, "you are so lucky that you are about to go to the operation theatre otherwise they would have you so hard with my slipper."
He giggled and do did Alia before her smile disappeared and she had a serious expression on her face. "What do you after last night?"
He gulped ans sobered up. "I honestly do not know."
"In case you were possessed by demons, you don't need to provide me with explanations otherwise tell me what the hell happened." She snapped. "Are you aware what you are about to do last night? You are lucky that they not throwing us out of the hospital at this moment."
Shaan swallowed and tears started together in his eyes but Alia stared at him nonchalantly.
"Don't try that with me," Alia muttered and shook her head in warning, "Dosti has never worked on me for the previous five years, so do not start thinking that they will be magically moving me now. You better tell me what went on in the head."
Shaan licked his lips. This was a continuous thought that led him to do this but to say it out loud in front of his sister was extremely difficult. "I don't know. ." He started, "I mean the thoughts went on and it became a vicious cycle. I kept on thinking what would happen to you if anything were to happen to me. It was extremely difficult and I don't know why and how I reached the terrace."
"Should you not be worrying about yourself? You are the one who is in hospital."
He shrugged slightly. "To be honest I'm already in a hospital bed. What's the worst that could happen-Ah!" He hissed and snatched his hand from his sister's grip. She had squeeze it knowingly.
"Sadistic." He muttered under this breath. Aliya tilted her head slightly and leaned into to twist his ear but before that the door opened and Armaan entered.
"Brother!" Shaan called out. "would you marry her?"
Alia gaped at him in horror.
Armaan's face turned serious. "Yes, without a doubt. Why are you asking me that now?"
He glanced at his sister. "I just want to make sure just in case if I pass away—Don't hit me!" He moved away from his sister and a man came to stand behind Alia, "that if there would be someone taking care of her or not. Because I know for a fact how our grandparents had to run behind her to make sure that she did not over work herself and I know if anything happens to me that one would basically act dead."
Arman didn't answer him and looked down at the woman that was glaring at her brother.
His hands went to hold her shoulders and he turned her around in her chair so that she was facing him and her back was turned towards her brother.
"Would you marry me?" He ask her point blank.
". . ."
"If you're going to guess then should I close my eyes?" Shaan enquired.
"Shut up."
"Shut up!"
He grumbled under his breath and sat up slowly before grabbing his ear earphones and blasting the music at full volume and he closed his eyes as well. He was not risking anything.
"Arman," Alia whispered to him, "you don't need to listen to this. Its his fear talking of what might happen after the surgery."
He shook his head adamantly, "it's a yes or no question. Say the first thing that comes to your mind. Do you want to marry me or not?"
She gulped. "I doo . . But—"
"Great!" Shaan yelled making Alia jump, "it's 11:30 in the afternoon. I think the marriage registrar would be open by now. Wr could make a small trip—" he put the headphones in and increased the volume. Armaan's glare was much worse than his sister.
Alia turned to him again. "Why are you asking me this?" She felt to anxious tight now.
"Because I want to marry you." Armaan answered question with honesty. "And you know that you want to marry me too. It's only a matter of time."
Alia was not agreeing to that. She opened her mouth to speak but the nurse cut her off,
"We are ready for him." The nurse stood at the door informing them before entering a long with two more nurses and getting Shaan prepared.
Shaan smiled and winked at his sister as they rolled him away. Alia gave him a tearful smile. She couldn't do anything else. This was the second time in her life that she had felt so helpless.
