"What?"

The shrill voice made Alia wince and pull the phone away from her ear in an effort to lessen the damage.

"I am not repeating what I said." She replied with a straight face.

"I heard you the first time!" She replied, irritated that Alia assumed her to be so dumb.

"Then what was the 'what' for?" If Shivani could see her mocking smile, she would have hit Alia.

"It meant.. ugh! Leave it!" She then continued, "what are we going to do now?" She whined out.

Alia hated when her friend whined out. She sounded like a dying hyena.

"Don't worry, sweetheart. I got it all figured out. Just come to my house tomorrow at eight " Alia purred out.

Today, she was dressed in a black long shirt dress accompanied by white vans, a bun on her head and silver coloured loops as earrings. She stepped into the kitchen and watched her mother cook breakfast from the dining table.

Pujita turned around and flinched in horror when she saw her daughter sitting there. She had not heard her sit down.

"I don't look that ugly, you know." Alia commented.

"Your looks are on your father which should clear all your doubts." The elder woman replied back.

"Savage." Alia commented following her with her eyes.

The elder women served her and sat down herself to have breakfast. Both of them liked silence a lot and it felt comfortable inbetween them. Pujita was reading the newspaper and Alia was doing the same on her iPad, anyone looking at them could point out the difference between the two generations here. The pattering of shoes had gone totally unnoticed by them, being so engrossed in their reading that they had forgotten about their surroundings.

"Morning Mummy," Shaan then stopped walking to the kitchen he turned to Alia. "What are you up for?" He said raising an eyebrow.

"Okay, you know I cannot do the eyebrow thingy, so stop. And second of all, I need to go somewhere." She stopped and cut the conversation short.

"Somewhere is where exactly?" Pujita questioned her for more accurate answers.

"We're going to sector eight today, you know for the food?"

Shaan's ears perked up at that. It was obvious to both of the women about how much he loved food. "Can you get cake in the jar for me?" He asked, his eyes lighting up.

"You know, you do not need to ask me that. I always bring it for you and red velvet for mummy." She tsked.

Shaan wanted to continue chatting but the alarm on his watch indicated that it was time go to. He kissed both of them good bye and walked out of the house and ran to his school bus. The ladies continued to eat their food in silence and relished their time together.

"Hello." Shivani walked in as if she was the daughter of the house. She threw her bag on the couch and headed straight for the kitchen to make herself a Nutella sandwich. As she came back, she joined them on the dining table.

"Do you know Alia agreed to try new food?" Shivani asked, taking a huge bite.

"Huh. Are you sure? Alia was never the one to try new things outside our house." Pujita commented and Alia almost instantly answered her back.

"It's a simple logic. When we try things at home and don't like them another family member might eat it or they are given to the less fortunate but outside people do not even look at them, they literally throw it in the dustbin in front of them and if you do they look at you with those judgy little eyes." Alia spoke, making animated faces about judging people.

Shivani and Pujita silently laughed at her antics. She was always the one with the pure heart, never faking anything. The maid came in informing that she had done her work and was leaving. Shivani and Alia also left and so did the elder Ahuja. Sector eight and nine were the food sectors from high scholars to office staff everyone loved to have a quick bite there. Shivani went inside one shop to order and Alia went in another. The food came in minutes after ordering and they started eating it happily, savouring every flavour in their mouth.

"Where did you park it?" Shivani asked her not being able to spot the scooter. They had finished and now wanted to go for good coffee.

"You were on it when I parked!" she said. "Forget go it go to the round about, I'll meet to you there."

Shivani nodded and left. Alia too went to her scooter which was in a far away corner. She was walking when she was grabbed from behind and looked back to see Arman.

"Hey!" she shouted.

"I'll teach you a fucking lesson for making me wait like that. Just you wait and watch." With that said, he started pulling her to his car having no effect from her punches or cruses. They just added fuel to his anger.
