Scene 62 – To happen in wrong timing
Ralphe followed Clara toward the house with Tatum in his arms asleep, she was tired from the flight sure but also because on their way to their house, she was singing with her brothers. It seemed that this was what always did when they were in the car.
As soon as he entered the house, he looked left to right wondering where they’d gone. He followed the noise so he walked straight then turned right, kitchen. Of course, they’d be in the kitchen.
He smiled as he saw Kieran munching some brownies, Maddox was drinking a glass of milk and Clara was making a pot of coffee. He cleared his throat, “Cla, where should I put Tate?”
Clara spun, looked at him sheepishly, “Sorry, I was kind of on autopilot and first thing in my mind was coffee.” She explained, “Why don’t you give her to me.”
He shook his head, “Nah, drink your coffee, just tell me where her room is.”
“Second floor, third room on the left side.”
He nodded and smiled, he started toward the stairs, he couldn’t help noticing the photos hanging from the walls, it was filled with this family that wasn’t his.
He felt the bitterness seeping through every part of his body as well as jealousy to Aiden Spence for having the family he so much wanted.
Once he found, Tatum’s room, he put her down on her bed, placed her under the duvet and smiled as she muttered something. She looked so sweet. He kissed her on her forehead, “Good night princess.”
He scanned the room, it looked brand new, and from what Clara told him, the twins demanded their own room, he smiled as he looked at the wallpaper, princesses and fairies of course.
He wondered what Maddox’s room would be, or even Kieran’s, he wanted to go explore but he knew he shouldn’t. Clara should be inviting him to.
He went back down to the kitchen and smiled as he saw the coffee mug on the counter, he sat next to Kieran who was now eating a cake along with Maddox. He took a sip and groaned in pleasure. World’s best coffee.
“Want some?” Kieran mumbled pointing at the cake.
Wow, Kieran must be in good mood, he was sharing. He shook his head, ruffled Kieran’s hair, “Go ahead. I’m not hungry.”
“Alright, Kieran sweetie, why don’t you show Uncle Ralphe his room after you finish eating?” Clara told Kieran, she turned to Ralphe, now holding a cup of coffee in her hands, “I’m going to check on my shop so can you watch the kids?”
Was he pathetic to feel happy that Clara was asking him to watch the three little hellions? But he was. Because Clara was trusting him to take care of them.
