Scene 43 – The woman you kept buying flowers for

In five minutes, Showbiz Inside was going live. The set was ready. The staff all prepared and in their right position. Everything was ready. Even the guests were ready and on standby.

Everyone was minding their own business, getting ready for the show that they hadn’t notice the wall between the two guests. They were both pissed off with each other. They’d been glaring at each other through the mirror for the whole ten minutes that they arrived at the back of the set.

It was Sheila Manalastas who finally noticed the standoff between her guests. It was too late though. They were now live. So she had no choice but to proceed with the show.

“Good morning Philippines. I’m Sheila Manalastas, your one and only showbiz correspondent.” Sheila Manalastas smiled her perfected smile. She turned to the other side of the audience, “My guests as all of you may know, left the Entertainment Industry six years ago. The first one left us wondering where she had gone.” She turned to the middle side of the audience, “We even dedicated a segment we called ‘Where are you, Clara?’.” She held off for a minute then smiled, “The second one, he left after a new scandal about him broke. But even from the fall from grace, he still rose and left us shocked as to find out he was going to space to be an astronaut.”

“Please welcome Clara Spence.” The crowd cheered, “And Ralphe Mendez.”

As Sheila called them in, the two walked and both waved at the audience with a smile on their faces. There weren’t tension between them, the wall suddenly dropped.

God, such perfect performers.

Ralphe Mendez led his leading lady to the couch. They sat by each other and Sheila sat across them. The crowd still cheered.

“How are you?” Sheila asked cheerfully.

Clara smiled, turned to the audience before answering Shelia, “It’s good to be back.”

“Clara’s right, it’s definitely good to be back.” Ralphe agreed.

Sheila nodded, “Before we go on and talk about your upcoming movie. Our audience will ask you a few questions. Is that okay?”

“Of course.”

Sheila smiled, turned to face the audience, “Okay, now let’s pick someone from the audience. Guys, you just need to raise your hands and we’ll pick.” Everyone in the audience raised their hands but of course, the writers had already placed ten people in the audience that was sure to be picked.

Phoenix Entertainment had warned Showbiz Inside not to ask some personal questions to Clara Spence and Ralphe Mendez. They wanted to protect their clients but what was Showbiz Inside if they won’t even ask. So the writers came up with the idea of audience asking the two guests questions, they placed those ten along the audience.
