Scene 18 – Didn’t hire prostitutes and use drugs

“I won’t interfere with his choices, Cassandra.” Clara told Cassandra sternly over the phone, she looked over the door and was pleased to know that Aiden did not follow her in the study. She needed to talk privately with Cass after all.

“Clara, alam kong galit ka kay Ralphe pero kabaliwan na tong ginagawa ni Ralphe! Kailangan mo siyang pigilan!”

Tinawagan siya ni Cass para ipaalam na si Ralphe ay gustong pumunta sa space, na gusto nito na siya ang ipadala ni Anton sa space at gusto ni Cass na tawagan niya si Ralphe para pigilan ito.

“When did Ralphe ever listen to me, Cass?” she smiled ruefully, kasi kung nakinig si Ralphe, kung kaya niya talagang ipagawa ang isang bagay kay Ralphe at susunod ito, edi dapat napasunod niya na mahalin siya nito at si Kieran. “Eto yung gusto ni Ralphe, pabayaan mo na siya.”

 

“I can’t! He’s my friend! I don’t want him to die! Call him please, he’s only doing this because he thinks he lost everything.” Perhaps he did, after all that latest scandal was surely something, even TSE didn’t stand by him through it all.

“I can’t. Wala na akong magagawa pa. This is his choice, respect it. You can’t force him into something he doesn’t want.”

“Clara, you loved him once and I know you’re happy with your life now, but he was part of your life then, don't let him do this. This may kill him.” Cassandra said, her voice was tired, “If not for old time’s sake then for your son, for his son. Don’t let Kieran’s father do this.”

“Aiden is Kieran’s father!” she snapped.

“And if you want it to stay that way, then call him. Tell him to stop this foolishness.” Even when Cassandra’s voice was tired, it still held the same cold authority Cassandra could muster.

She stilled, “Are you blackmailing me?” her voice suddenly hard, “You would choose Ralphe over me, your best friend. You would choose the man who rejected us?”

“To be fair Clara, he never had the choice to whether reject or accept your pregnancy. You never told him.”

Clara sucked her breath, Cass’s voice held something else, she couldn’t name it for she never once heard Cass use it on her.

“And what? Give him the opportunity to hurt me and my son?”

She heard Cass sighed, “Just call him and make him change his mind, Clara. I don’t want to fight with you, you are my best friend.”

“But you are willing to blackmail me.”

“If I have to then I will. You're my best friend but Ralphe… he’s also my friend. I’ve seen him since you left and I knew I should have been there more for him. This space business, this could kill him. He’s only doing this because he feels lost so please just help him.”
