Scene 42 – Fear in her eyes

Today was Clara and Ralphe’s first interview. Everyone seemed excited about it except Clara. She didn’t want to do this interview, they’d ask questions so personal that it bordered on harassment. She didn’t want to deal with it.

She knew one question that they might ask, not if she had her way though. She’d sue them if they so much asked her.

She couldn’t concentrate on reading the script of One More Night because the kids were having so much fun here at the back of the car. They kept on singing and playing car-games and they kept on pushing her to join but she needed to read the script. They’d ask about the upcoming movie for sure.

Nang marating ang NTV building ay bumaba na sila ng sasakyan at sa entrance ng building ay naghihintay si Jane sa kanila. Pumasok sila sa loob ng building at dinala sila ni Jane sa isang dressing room.

Pagkapasok na pagkapasok ay agad kinuha ni Kieran ang tablet at umupo silang tatlong magkakapatid sa sofa. Hindi na muna pinansin ni Clara ang tatlo dahil siguradong tumitingin na naman sila ng mga bibilhin para sa kanikanilang kwarto.

Umupo siya sa may tapat ng mahabang salamin at kinuha ang phone niya. Tatawagan niya sana si Cassandra kaso may biglang pumasok ulit si Jane at sinabi sa kanya na pinapatawag siya ni Sir Carlo.

Nilapag niya ang phone niya sa lamesa kasama ang bag niya. Naglakad papunta sa sofa, “Don’t go out and behave okay?”

The kids looked up, “Where are you going mommy?” Kieran asked.

“I have to talk to someone. Again, don’t go out and don’t talk to strangers.” She told them, kissed them one by one on their heads and left.

She had a bad feeling about this.

Ralphe was walking down the corridor along with Lorna, she kept on pointing out the things he should and should not say on live national TV. He wasn’t listening. In his mind, he was thinking about Clara and her family.

He kept asking himself questions about their lives and all that. He was going insane because no matter how much he asked himself the questions, he’d never get the answers. He was asking the wrong person.

That was why, he really wanted Kieran to be with Clara during this interview. Kieran was a bit talkative and Clara would never answer his questions so that left Kieran. He even brought reinforcement.

Sweets.

Kieran, he noticed, had a sweet tooth. Yeah, yeah, he was going to bribe the kid with sweets, so what, he needed answers, the kid had it all. Maybe.

He had it all planned out. He even asked one of the Showbiz Inside producers to room him with Clara.

They reached the dressing room and he smirked the moment he read the name, Ralphe Mendez & Clara Dela Merced.
