Scene 4 – Love that makes sense

“I just can’t leave you alone.”

She rolled her eyes, “Ian, I’m pregnant not invalid.”

“I know that’s why I cannot leave you alone.” Ian dropped the documents down at the coffee table and grabbed the bottle of beer, “And you want me to crash her vacation?”

She shrugged, “You always crash parties, so why not?”

He took a swig in his beer and looked up, “Maybe because I think she needs this vacation. I don’t want to be in the way.”

She snorted, “Come on, Ian. That’s not the Ian I know. The Ian I know would push. You need this, Ian. Never kang makaka-move on kay Elena kung haggang ngayon walang closure.”

“I don’t want to move on.” sabi ni Ian, “Elena’s the one. I knew it the moment I saw her laugh. She has the most beautiful laugh and all I could do was stare at her that moment and I knew. Elena, she’s my one and however fucked up my life that time with Yuri and the other women, I knew Elena would be the only woman for me. She is my first and last. She’s the sun for my moon.”

You’re lucky because you found your one. And now that you do, don’t let her slip away again. Fight Ian.”

Tumango si Ian, “Salamat. Ikaw, sa tingin mo ba si Ralphe yung ‘the one’ mo?”

She looked away, “Some days, I’d say he was.” She said, “I was so infatuated with him since our college years and I never got over it. So when they offered me a movie with him, I said yes almost immediately. I want to think that I fell in love with the idea of him but I really did fall for him. But I don’t think he’s the one.” She looked at the window, the night was high and she wanted to see Ralphe but she couldn’t. “I don’t want to think that he was the one because why then couldn’t he feel the same way I do?”

“Because Clara, even if he’s the one for you doesn't mean that you’re the one for him. People are romantics, we tend to believe in soul mates, that there’s that one person that could fit us, that’s not true, Cla. You can find your one but more often than not, it’s not just the same fit.”
