Scene 15 – Kieran Luke Spence
Clara jolted awake with excruciating pain, she cried out placing a protective hand over her stomach, god it hurt. She moaned, crawled toward the end of the bed and grabbed the telephone on the bedside table, she pressed 1 on her speed dial.
Aiden answered, his voice sleepy, “Clara?”
“Ai…ahhh…” she tried to speak but a new set of pain washed over her, she clutched on the bed, “Aiden, help.”
She felt the wetness between her legs and she looked down, she knew it was blood, god, no, not her baby, no, no, no. “Aiden.” Her voice full of terror.
She cried out in pain again, suddenly Aiden was there holding her and soothing her, “Ambulance’s on its way.”
“It hurt, Aiden. My baby.”
A new wave of pain washed over her and then it all went black.

Aiden knew he had to call someone, his parents, oh god, he needed to call Clara’s parents but he didn’t know them, not exactly. Ian. Yes, he needed to call Ian, he was the closest when it comes to family.
But he couldn’t, he was waiting for the doctors to tell him that everything was fine, that Clara was coming back to him. He had to know if he’d ever see Clara smile again, if he’d ever see her.
He felt weak, he couldn’t think like this, Clara was strong and so was her son. They’d lived. They must.
He felt a hand on his shoulder, he turned his head and saw his mother, he couldn’t speak and ask them how they’d knew but he couldn’t form the words. “Alex called when he saw the ambulance.”
He nodded, he stared back to the window, his fist clutched tightly. “I can’t lose her mom.”
“You won’t. Clara’s strong.”
Minutes that seemed hours, the door swung open and a doctor stepped out, scanning the room, “I’m looking for Clara Dela Merced’s family.”
“That would be us.” His mom answered for him.
“Are you an immediate family?” the doctor asked.
“We’re all she has.” Melanie said.
“I’m sorry but I will need to talk to her immediate family only.”
“She’s my fiancée.”
His mom gasped obviously surprised, it was a lie of course, he hadn’t asked Clara but he would soon.
