Scene 38 – Happy in the arms of another

Ralphe watched Clara as she sat down on the chair across of him, nothing changed, she was still the most beautiful woman for him. Her appearance changed alright but nothing drastic, she just had more edge.

Someone cleared his throat, with regret Ralphe turned his eyes on the president, he smiled, “So One More Night.” He started.

Ralphe pressed his back on the chair and let his eyes roamed around the conference table, executives were there along with Direk Ryan and scriptwriters. He read the script in his hand, One More Night sequel to There’s Love and There’s Yu.

“Filming will start two weeks from now.” the head producer stated, “Until then we’ll do interviews for both of you.”

“Of course, we’ll prep you for the interviews. Especially for you Clara, they’ll badger you relentlessly and they will have ask questions that I know will be hard for you but we will make sure they won’t ask about your hu—”  The president cut off when the door opened suddenly and a little kid barged in and came running toward Clara.

Clara’s head turned and she shook her head as she stood and muttered something under her breath, “Excuse me.” she said. She bent down and talked with the little kid.

Ralphe watched them both, the little kid looked like he was protesting what Clara was telling him. Who was this kid anyway?

Clara nodded at the kid and straightened up. Just as they were walking toward the door, two more kids came with a man. And that was when something in Clara’s left hand caught Ralphe’s eyes.

She was wearing rings. One was obviously an engagement ring as the diamond was huge.

He rose, surprised as he was he spoke the first words that came out of his mouth, “You’re married?!” he stared at Clara who raised an eyebrow at him as if he was crazy for not knowing, liked it was common knowledge.

“Excuse us. My son just got excited.” Clara said not even bothering to answer him. He looked then at the kids, they were so cute, the one who first barged in looked like the eldest and he had that air in him that Ralphe couldn’t guess.

The others rose and went toward them, Ralphe stayed in his place.

“Sir Carlo, this is my brother-in-law, Major Alex Spence.” She introduced the guy, so this wasn’t her husband, where the hell was the husband then? He needed to see that guy. He needed to…

“Mommy let’s go!”

Clara looked down to the kid and frowned at him, “Kieran what did I tell you about interrupting adults in conversation?”

“It’s rude.” Kieran, the boy mumbled. Ralphe smiled as he saw Kieran, there was something about him.
