Scene 59 – Love me and only me!

Angelo rose, his stance slightly swinging as he found balance, he raised the bottle and looked at it, wow he must have had been in here for a while now, the bottle was almost empty. No wonder, his surrounding was hazy.

He looked at the man, down to the basket of flowers he was holding and then up to his face, “Ralphe, fancy seeing you here.” His words slurred. “Visiting our old friend, are we?” leering at the basket of flowers.

“You're drunk.” Ralphe said his voice oozing of disapproval. “It’s fucking 9 in the morning, Chua.”

“Did you know there’s no wrong time in drinking? It’s always the right time.” He grinned, his gaze went back to his wife, “Oh Ralphe, meet my wife. It’s her death anniversary and we’re fucking celebrating.” pointing down at the grave, “She always wanted to celebrate anniversaries.”

Ralphe took one flower from his basket, stepped closer to Georgina’s grave and bent down to give her the lone white camellia. “Is that why you’re here drinking?”

“It’s the same reason why you go here, Ralphe.” He said seriously. He sat back, looking up to the skies, “Guilt.” He said softly, it was why he was here. He needed to be here. To assuage his guilt even just a tiny bit.

“I don’t go here for that reason.”

He laughed sardonically, “Really Ralphe, there’s no one here beside us. You can be honest. You visit Sadie because you feel guilty.”

Ralphe glared at him, “I think you’re mistaking me for yourself, Chua. You’re the one who should most feel guilty about what happened to Sadie.” His voice full of venom. “You’re the reason everyone was miserable.”

He shut his eyes, if only he could close his ears, he didn’t want to hear this. He didn’t want to hear the truth. He took one last swig before setting the empty bottle beside him, “True. But life was the one who played last.”

“But life wouldn’t have had to get in the way if it weren’t for you. You orchestrated everything from the very start.”

He nodded, admitting that he did do it. He remembered that night. He remembered how he finally saw a chance to get rid of Andy. They said, Emma and Andy’s relationship was toxic, they were mistaken, what was toxic was his love for Emma.

It was ugly. And to tell the truth not very worth all the pain he had cause. He learned soon enough though that love should be worth all the heartaches it brought. Even if it was ugly and scarred, it should have been worth it.

His love for Emma wasn’t. But his love for Cassandra was. If he could turn back time, he’d never wished not to fall in love with Cassandra, he’d fall in love over and over again. No matter how painful it was. Because having have had that kind of love? It was so worth it. It made the love that was ugly and scarred to be a love that was beautiful and perfect.
