Scene 41 – A boulder to his plan

Clara was wakened up by the ruckus in her room, she slowly opened her eyes and sat up. Her children were in the middle of the room arguing about something she still couldn’t understand, “What’s going on?” she asked.

They turned and eyes widened in surprise, the twins pushed Kieran forward, Kieran turned his head back to them and Clara assumed he glared at the twins before he faced her with a frown, “We don’t want to live here!”

Oh great this. She nodded. She slipped out of bed, grabbed her robe by the armchair near her bed and put it on. She went back to the bed, pulled the bell pull and sat on the edge of the bed. She needed coffee before she engaged to this.

Kieran placed his arms on his chest and stomped his little feet on the floor waiting for her to answer, the twins followed suit.

“Coffee first.”

Minutes later, a maid arrived with her tray of breakfast, she set the tray on the table by the fireplace, “Thank you.” Clara said before the maid left the room.

She rose, started toward the table, grabbed the cup of coffee, sat by the chair, and faced the kids. She took a small sip before putting it down, “So tell me again the problem.”

“It’s haunted!” Kieran said.

“We saw a lady in white last night in Ran’s room!” Maddox explained.

“I’m sure it’s all in your head.” She wasn’t sure though, this house was old, that was for sure.

“She was there!” Tatum cried. “We didn’t sleep at all.”

“Then why didn’t you go here if you were so scared? Nothing ever stopped you from running to my room every time you wanted to in the past.”

“We didn’t want to disturb you.” Kieran said, “Mommy, we don’t want to be here.”

“Give me another reason. Our house was haunted enough that you enjoyed being the Ghostbusters at night.” She smiled at the memory, they always did that whenever they felt like it.

“Mommy, we don’t feel at home. We’re afraid of playing here because we might break something.” Kieran confessed.

“And they watch us!”

That was good enough reason. The kids weren’t comfortable here, she wasn’t also. She wasn’t that comfortable with having staff all over the house. This wasn’t the lifestyle she had and definitely not the lifestyle the kid grew up with.

“Okay.”

They looked at her surprised, “That’s it?” Tatum asked.
